will we get the "its been a long season" excuse from the Ingerlish media?

Maybe, just maybe, Ireland's lads have played a few games themselves:agree:

Indeed it was a good attempt but England were pish and the game was dull.

Stuck it on the TV at work, it was dire, Shane Long's goal was a cracker though. The English fans were total bores it was like they were at a wake.

Should have heard Collymores excuse last night, the English game is played at a much higher tempo, perhaps 15-20% more each game in the Premiership than most other countries. Thats why they are knackered when the tournaments come up. :greengrin

I wonderer if he's heard of squad rotation, most clubs do it these days?

Ignoring the fact that almost all of the Ireland squad play in, erm, England.

This has got to be the worst England squad since the early-mid 90s. And it's going to get worse in 1-2 years when Lampard, Cole, Gerrard and so on pack in.

Normally would want another team to do well against England however find it more difficult with Ireland given they have 2 young quality players playing for them who should be playing fro Scotland.

:agree: They don't seem to get it that their team is just not very good, and when you look at the top teams in England, most of the English players in their teams are the less skilful ones especially at the back.

The central defenders England have are average, bar the emergence of Phil Jones who i think could become a fantastic player.

They have good left backs in Cole and Baines but on the right are again very average. As you say in Midfield, Lampard and Gerrard are good players, but at the end of their careers, and have never really worked as a pair over the years. The rest and i include Rooney would not get into the top countries in the worlds teams.

The bookies dont often get it wrong, and 22/1 to win the next world cup seems about right to me.

Sky Sports news still banging on about it, when will they ever learn they are not (or nowhere near) world champs anymore?
