Latapy. 6-2. No contest.

As a team goal latapy's but for a strike Griffith's.

I did find it strange that the SPL goal of the season for Graham Cairney (also great goal against the yams) was voted before the season has finished.

See Leigh just got a good shout out on Soccer AM and invited on the show next year before they showed his goal. Goosebumps just seeing it again

Latapy's is the best of the bunch quality wise but my personal favourite is O'Connors because I was there :). "We only need 10 men!" GGTTH

I'd go with this one too, if its the one he curled into the top corner when Gordon was in goals.

Latapy for me. I must have watched that goal hundreds of times. Everything about it, including the commentary, was just class.

Leigh's goal has added class because it may turn out to have relegated the yams. Another in a similar vein was Willie Hamilton's from behind the bye-line at the PBS in the NYD derby 1965. It prevented the yams from winning the league that year, and beat a far better goalie (Jim Cruickshank). Even sweeter, Willie previously played for the yams. Alan Gordon wore maroon that day.

Joe McBride Jr free kick at Tynecastle in a 1-1 draw

Wasn't the score 2-2?

I remember that it absolutely hammered it down with rain and we were in the old uncovered terrace. We were absolutely shocking for 85 minutes of the match and McBride scored two in the closing moments.

Que unbelievable celebrations.

I also remember lamping some Yam fud on the Gorgie Road :greengrin

Latapy - everything about it was incredible. The build up, the commentary and that it's the only thing I remember from the 6-2 game

McBride's free kick at the Jambo end was memorable as was Houchen's debut header! Lots of great other goals too ! Even Caldwell's finish on Sunday was 1st class with the movement to bring it out of his feet.

But i remember the 2-2 game.Think it's the one that fatboy scored after 27 seconds. It's as you said it.Unreal celebrations at the end.
My favorite derby comeback.

Latapy or Deeks for me, but Griffiths is right up there, none of their goals spring to mind as spectacular

Was thinking about this all day on wednesday, its so hard to choose between Griffiths and Riordans goals.

For me, Griffiths shades it. Riordans was in live play and one hell of a strike, however with Griffiths it was a case where the goal keeper had all the time in the world to prepare for a shot, there was a wall, it was at the Wongadome etc so think Leigh wins it. Unreal strike.

Latapys goal was a thing of beauty, but in terms of the quality of the hit this one is the best.

McBride definitely opened the scoring with a free kick at the Hearts end. Over the wall and in off the post. Blackley was the manager. They equalised in the 2nd half with a penalty from a softish Calum Milne handball. And there was the 2-2 game too earlier and a different game.

Certainy not claiming it is the best but a lovely controlled strike.

Griffith's goal was top shelf free kick but always think that free play goals are more deserving.

Latapy's in the 6-2, Riordans screamer are the best that I can remember.

But Griffiths free kick of course is beautiful and in some ways more incredible bacause after the disallowed one everyone knew he would be going for goal.

But against Hearts I'll take them all and in my old age will cherish them as memories from a day when Edinburgh had two teams

I personally love Riordans 30 yarder in the 1-1 draw, and another screamer (exocet accodring to Archie McPherson), in a 2-2 draw as I was there for those. Griffiths recent strike was utter quality though, and I wouldnt want to call between these.

As far as I can remember though, every Hearts goal scored against us could be described as a goal keeping error.

Not one mention of Kevin Harper's volley on New Year's day.

Surprised Caldwell's hasn't been mention so far (at least on the first page :cb)

One of the best finishes I've seen in a derby and it is a real possibility that that goal will relegate Hearts. With 30 seconds left they were still in the league before big Ross took it out of their hands. Quality

Too many to list but I think John O'Neil in the 6_2 game.

Another good Derby goal was Joe Harper from way out ( my memory is near halfway line but I suppose it`d be about 40 yards ) on what may have been first Scottish Premier League opening day in about 1976 . Or Gordon Rae`s volley in SC QF at ER in 1979 .
