Palmeirense!
Meu time numero um e o escocês Hibernian.

Famosas vitorias do time incluem o jogo contra o Napoli (5-0), Barca (x-x) e Real Madrid (x-x)

To make life easier...

Palmeirenese!
I write to you as a supporter who "dreams in green". I have two green teams Palmeiras and Hibernian. My first team is Hibernian of Scotland. We also play in green and white.
Today Hibernian stand on the brink of history in our quest for "the holy grail" - The Scottish Cup.
We have not won the Scottish Cup since 1902. If we do, it will be one of the biggest sporting triumphs in the world sport - easily beating the Boston Red Sox jinxed World Series Baseball record which ended at only 86 years.

So why do I write and what is the connection to Palmeiras and Brasil?

I'd like to share a little of my club's history...

* Formed in 1875 and the first team to wear the green
* Founded to support the immigrant Irish community in Edinburgh
* A revered forward line - "the famous five" of footballing genius were ahead of their time, who played the game in a style Brasilians appreciated (Vasco even tried to buy 2 of "the famous five"!). They won 3 league titles in 5 years.
* The "famous five" team became one of first teams to be invited to tour Brasil and play against Vasco and Botafogo in the Maracaná. It took 30 hour journey by several! planes.
* The first British club to play and score in Europe, reaching semi-finals
* Famous victories against Napoli (5-0), Barça (x-x) Real Madrid (x,x)
* An innovative tactical approach to playing and developing the game

So Hibernian were founded to support the Immigrant Irish community in Edinburgh just as Palestra Italiano supported the Italian community. Our long-suffering supporters love to see football played the right way - even if it means we don't always win :(

On a personal level I have a strong connection with Brasil and Palmeiras. I met my Brasilian wife watching the Brasil - Scotland game in 1998 World Cup and her father introduced me to Palmeiras. I bought him a Hibernian strip and he bought me a Palmeiras strip - we are manchas verdes! There are also other Hibernian/Palmeirenese based in São Paulo/Brasil.
Now I pass on my passion to my sons Noah and Sol – Noah and I will attend this historic match against Glasgow Celtic. The match will be tough – Celtic are league champions but our players stand on the point of greatness – with the possible realisation of the dream of generations of Hibernian fans past and present who dream in green.
So I turn to ask you all to share in our experience and become Hibees (Hibernian supporters) for the day. Support and dream in Green with us as we hope to create history on the 26th May in our quest for "the holy grail".

Maybe you can adopt Hibernian as your other "verdão"? But you can't have Leigh Griffiths he's one of our own" :)

Nice job! I've been snowed under with work for the last week, so apologies for not replying sooner. Palmeiras haven't had the best year - relegation etc. (As you no doubt already know). Great effort to spread the news worldwide btw. I will have more time to have a look over the weekend (although the yams finance thread is proving hard to tear myself away from right now! :greengrin)

Great story viva! I love Brazil, went there in 2004 for 3 months when I was 'travelling' and toured about a bit. In all the places I have been, I've never felt more at home in such foreign surroundings! Wonderful welcoming and passionate people. Unfortunately though, I adopted Botafogo as my team :-) All the best.

I agree (botafogo excepted ;) ) Strangers welcoming you and treating you like kings the world will fall even more in love with Brasil once they experience it. carnival will get some more interest for sure - the pics and 5 secs don't do it justice

The shifting sand dunes at Natal completely mental driving of the instructor pretty much driving _along_ not up/down the < the 45 degree slope - health and safety - what H&s. the aqua bunda was mental too! I almost surfed off a sand dun into the sea (a sheer drop) but otherwise just like being at Porty ;)

Digressing slightly here, I fear for some of the things which will happen a year from now. The airports in SP and Rio are both a tenth of the size required to deal with the numbers who will be arriving. They are a pretty tight squeeze at the moment and struggle at times with normal traffic. I'm also wondering where all the fans are going to stay. And the decision to spread out the games from the same group around Brazil is going to take a lot of fans by surprise, both in terms of the distances (Brazil is the same size as the U.S minus Alaska- some of the 1st and 2nd group games involving the same team are literally thousands of miles apart) and costs involved (which are already outrageous as it is). Then there's the airlines. It's only the Confederations Cup this year, but that has been enough to raise the average price of a return flight to Europe from around 700-900 pounds up to 1800-2000 pounds. That is what I have had to pay to travel home this summer. And yes, I did look everywhere online etc. I also shudder to think how much money has disappeared into trouser pockets in brown envelopes... When it comes down to it, there will be lots of happiness and celebrating and fans will be made to feel like old friends, but the view from the ground here suggests there will be plenty of problems too.

I thought it was! I have been there too and driven through the sand dunes (well, was driven.... Crazy!) I was lucky enough to be in the passenger seat of the buggy while a mate of mine was sitting on the back outside... He was terrified!!! Great time there stayed in a hostel that was modelled on a castle too, which was pretty cool and spent Halloween there. Feeling very nostalgic right now.
