Seemed strange that there was no thread for this on the front page less than 5 hours before kick-off so thought I would start one.

What are people's thoughts for tonight?

Keen to win to keep challenging for the highest league position possible, looking to see the younger players getting a run-out again, or just hoping that we don't pick up any injuries?

I want another confident performance,....a clean sheet, a couple of goals and moral boosting win ....and finally a clean bill of health for all involved afterwards.

If McPake is out tonight and the young lad does well again, what if the lad plays again well on sunday, do you bring McPake back for the final? I know it's all ifs just now but if McPake isn't playing is he going to make the final?

For why?

We are in 9th place now, but could be in 7th at the close of play tonight.

Why would we go with a substantially weakened team and demoralise everyone after a bad defeat tonight?

Be aware that Killie are really up for this game, wanting to win it for the fan who sadly died last time.

Why would we hand it to them on a plate??

Exactly my take.

Don't see the point in risking players in a Derby, winning 3 points and then putting out a weak team tonight.

I dont think playing youngsters is handing them it on a plate. I think we will be more likely to win tonight playing a few young boys coz they will be hungry to impress. I feel that is why our season has kind of fizzled out, too many players feeling content. Harris came in and has run riot since, Caldwell has come in looked good, Handling looks exciting and Forster on sunday was superb. Looking at Hibs recently (except sunday) some of our regulars look like they have had their mind on the final so I would throw in the young team and mix it up.

I think Fenlon is getting the balance between resting players / playing the strongest team better this year than he did last year. After survival was secured in the Dunfermline game, he played what was nearly a reserve team in the last league game at Inverness and they were well beaten. I think that more or less killed any momentum taken out of the Dunfermline game.

This year there has been more of a rotation system based on whether a player is fully fit. He has not taken any chances with knocks and so on, but equally he has not "rested" players for no reason. The abandonment meant that this game was always likely to have the larger amount of players taken out.
