I was hoping it would be the Sunday night or even the following Saturday. I start a new job on the 27th May. Least I have a ticket for the final but defo not drinking. Will be very hard if we do the unthinkable though!!

That's ridiculous.

Kids are at school so will miss it. And a lot of people will be working as well if they didn't request it off.

Should have been 6pm leave, get to ER about 7:00 and party from there.

I don't want to moan I really really don't, but its a shame kids will miss out

Now you mention it that time may well be the driver's sign on time, can you remove the start time until I get more details tomorrow? I got the info from a colleague.

I suspect it's a council and police decision. And you know what that means...............

Why not have it the following Saturday? A week to party then a brilliant day oot at the weekend. This smacks of Edinburgh Polis to be honest.

It's not a school holiday, it is a week earlier. So will have to take my son out of school and he will get an unauthorised absence, so a lot of kids will be missing school ;o)

8/11 odds I'll be shacked up in a casino in Basildon offering sexual favours to midgets in return for digestive biscuits whilst wearing a thong, a leather jacket and a daffodil up each nostril and singing Michael Bolton songs.

I'm very confused. Where does it say the time of the parade? If it's 5/6 o'clock why will the kids have to stay off school? Did Man U not have a parade yesterday? Seemed to work well to me and it wasn't even a holiday .

There isn't a way they can do it that will make everyone happy.
Scottish cup final should be played on a Saturday at 3!
However, It doesn't bother me to much when it is. I'm off all week!!

It would be a one-in-a-hundred-year event so the EDC should declare an Edinburgh holiday, but they'll all be hiding in their council chambers wanting the ground to open up and working on their master plan to save the Yams.

We have waited 111 years to win the Scottish Cup, and you think it's a belting idea to - if we do finally break the hoodoo on May 26th - have people wait a full week before the parade??

With the game being on the Sunday, I don't see what else Hibs could have done. Thousands of fans will be travelling from all over the shop for the game, and don't have a spare week after the final to twiddle their thumbs before the parade.

I think if we were to win win the official parade would be the last thing on my mind, I think most people will just be so overwhelmed they will party wherever they are.

I agree to an extent. But then with school and work by the time it was to finish you would be looking about 10:30 onwards.

I'd imagine the OP workrs for a bus company and saw the person who is drivng the bus starting at 12 and putting 2 and 2 together and getting 5. I think it will be 6pm start from city chambers going onto ER for c. 7:00 for the biggest party EVER

As things stand I'm scheduled to be working on the 26th and 27th May.

Tried getting a holiday for the 26th for the past few months and still heard nothing and I've also tried getting a shift swap for the 27th, again to no avail.

I might miss the game and, if things go to plan, the parade as well.

Glad it's at night, but it sounds like they are waaayyy underestimating the size of the crowd. IMHO you could get 200-250000 lining the streets, many of whom will have been drinking all day and probably from the previous night. This is much bigger than anything the Yams have done and is historic.

I could see it being even bigger than that to be honest.

cant get over his statement saying "the hibs fans wont be fussed if the parade does not go down Leith waik" I just hate the way he speaks as if he is our appointed spokesperson, rather than just his personal opinion.

I have more to say given the issues of the route, safety etc , but must get off to the match

Wasn't it scheduled to go down Leith Walk if we'd won it last year, and fans wanted it to go down Easter Road instead? Seems it's scheduled to go down Easter Road this year, so why would anyone be bothered?

Hero76

The reason its not going down Leith and along Duke street is safety as everyone would be running along the adjoining streets on the walk to Easter road causing a potential bottle neck.

Eh? More than 250,000 people lining the streets?? I think not.

Scottish football is a tiny fish in a big pond. The parade would be massive and incredible, were it to happen, but we'd be doing well to get north of 150,000, much less 250,000 out on the streets.

Correct

I also remember getting squashed up against the metal railings at Albion road just outside the corner shop the barrier could not contain us and it turned into a free for all. I also remember people kicking in doors to get inside the stadium.

We're talking here about one of the biggest losing streaks in world sport.

I don't think there are many sports teams in the universe who will have spent the majority of their history at the top level of their national structure and yet who have failed to win one of the main national trophies for over 100 years.

If we win next Sunday, we'll have people who don't even like football coming out to see this parade.

I couldn't really care less how many turn up if I'm being quite honest but I wouldn't be surprised if that many were there to see it.
