This is up there with coffee cups having the "warning - caution hot contents"

Incredible

Might just be me, but if I was allergic to nuts I wouldn't buy them!

And if it was a specific type.. Peanuts I'd be very aware of the different forms they come in.

Oh well ......

I'm allergic to peanuts and just stay clear of all nuts. :agree:

I wouldn't buy a 'bag of nuts' becuase there wasn't a message to say that they may contain nuts. The only person who would is someone with insulin near by, who doesn't take too severe a reaction and fancies their chances in a legal battle to win a quick £. :agree:

The weird thing is, peanuts are not nuts, they're legumes!

When it comes to allergies a lot of folk assume peanuts=nuts, they don't. I know of one chap who has a severe allergy to sesame seeds and certain nuts, but can chuck peanuts down his piehole to his hearts content!

Never underestimate the stupidity of people or the mendacity of claim culture vultures.

True, there that police woman suing a victim of crime because she tripped over a kerb ......... She must have been surprised to find that roads and driveways had such things.

Well it's a reflection of today's compo culture, isn't it? There's a lot of chancers out there.

Mind you it doesn't hurt for the food manufacturers to be on their toes regarding what's actually in the products!

Idiot-proofing the world, one bag of peanuts at a time.

Deary me. It's not as of the peanuts are disguised as anything else or could even be perceived as anything other than peanuts. I'd be shocked if anyone dumb enough not to realise by looking at them was able to read.

That being said, it doesn't surprise me given some of the metal things people are able to sue for these days.

Good thing too. Actually, this is quite a good reason to put a warning on, when you think about.

Someone who thinks - "hang on, peanuts are legumes, not nuts, they're ok", but if they're packed in an environment that can contain nut traces, then the warning needs to be there.
