There are Hibernian clubs all over Britain, they were formed to provide social assistance to Irish Catholics who couldn't work, join a trade union, etc due to not being Protestant.ed I remember watching folk music in one such Hibernian club in Leeds a few years ago. Many became football clubs, I believe Manchester united were once one, correct me if I'm wrong.

The St Stephen's club more of a gentlemen's club along the lines of those found in London and Edinburgh. Don't know that it was ever strictly Catholic.
