Given that it is Celtic we are playing in the final, I'm presuming that what happened in 2001 will happen again and rightly or wrongly both teams will wear be made to wear change strips, presuming Celtic will go with all black, do you think we will go with white or yellow?

Personally I would rather see the white kit used as at least it has some green in it

That said, SFA might bend over backwards for celtic to wear their white 3rd kit.

Toss a coin to determine which team wears their home strip. Can't see the point of both wearing away strips. As Wullie has said, we wore our home strips in the 60's and 70's and didn't have any problems. As far.as I'm concerned we could walk on the Hampden pitch wearing black bin liners so long as we win that big trophy.

Celtic seemingly were the home team in 2001, hence they got to wear their home top. Not sure if Hibs chose white for commercial reasons,

Its an absolute nonsense that both teams would have to wear thier away strips for the final. Celtic have a mostly white strip with emerald green stripes on the shirt. We can wear our green shorts to have a mostly bottle green strip with white sleeves. That will not clash whatsoever.

Have you even looked at the strips? Nothing like each other at the best of times, and certainly not this season with the darker green. Falkirk and Dundee have been a much closer clash this season and have both worn their home strips.

I hate that all Green with White sleeves look.

Dont like the all Yellow strip

Dont like that washed out Purple effort we had a few years back.

Dont like the black strips. Looks good with a pair of jeans, but not on the team.

White top with Green shorts and White socks will do for me, or a dark Purple top with White shorts and Purple socks looks good.

But like most of the oldies on here I can remember both clubs in their home strips with no problems ... even less so now with our darker Green.

Anyway ... in any game where both teams wear the same colour the team who has worn it the longes should get priority :greengrin

Heres hoping we can both wear our home tops.

Hibernian Ladies played Celtic ladies last week and both played in the home tops, so obviously not seen as a colour clash there.

Think the problem is the fact that for year both hibs and celtic home kits have clashed, this season being the exception.

Is it maybe possible that we could actually wear our new strip at the cup final, as I seem to recall the Puma deal originally started early May 2010 for 3 years, and may be finito, but I guess Puma could give us more dosh to wear their gear in the final. I recall something similar happened with Dunfermline a few years back, but they wore a one off Adidas strip.

Eh? Both teams play in green and white strips how can that not be a colour clash?

They wear green and white horizontal stripes on their tops, we have a solid green body with solid white sleeves.

It would be fairly obvious to everyone who matters (fans, referee, team-mates and people watching on TV) which team was which.

It would cause no confusion at all.

However, if the authorities insist that both teams cannot wear their home strips, since we were the first team into the final, we should be able to play in our traditional home kit.

Failing that, we should be tossing a coin to decide this.

I believe the decision is down to the ref and linesmen. Given that some of them can't see a yellow ball three feet over a line maybe two shades of green might be too much for them. I expect us in white and them in black. Good guys v bad guys scenerio.

Make the kits as similar as possible to give us a chance.

I actually thought the dark blue by Falkirk and our green in the semi were very similar - especially at the stadium when the sun was out.

I think Hibs will be in white and Celtic black. I'm not a big fan of our yellow kit - least the white one is more Hibs than yellow.

It should be as simple as that. But the SC Final of 2001 suggests otherwise.

I think the problem in 2001 was that Celtic were the home team but our white away strip also clashed with their hoops hence them wearing yellow.

If we are the home team this time we should wear green and Celtic should wear whatever they wore when they visoted ER.

I thought i'd check what the sfa rule book says:

When a match is played on the ground of one of the competing clubs and the first choice colours of both clubs are the same, or similar, the away club shall change and play in distinctive colours as specified pursuant to Rule 26(a).

When a match is played on a neutral ground and the first choice colours are the same, or similar, then both teams shall change and play in distinctive colours.

In the case of the Semi-Final and Final Ties of the Competition, the first drawn club at the draw for both Semi-Final Ties will be permitted to play in the home strip and the second drawn club (if necessary) is required to change. The winning team of the first Semi-Final will automatically become the home team in the Final.

Going by the SFA rule book, as the winner of the first drawn semi final we should at least get to choose what kit we wear and then Celtic should wear one of their kits which does not clash. Their black and grey hooped kit would not clash with our home.

Sounds as though the ref could play a part though and he may, to save a rammy, suggest that we both change. Maybe in a role reversal from 2001 they will wear their all white top and we will wear yellow.

I couldn't actually careless what top we wear to be honest. Nice to win it in green with white sleeves but would't sour the moment if we were to be in yellow or white.

Neil Lennon will no doubt kick off if Celtic don't get to wear the kit he wants them to wear.

Was in the club shop this morning getting Tynie tickets and saw one of the boys printing up a green strip with the William Hills sleeve patches.

I asked for a look at the shirt and it was embroidered with under the crest in the same colour as the badge. It had the date, Scottish Cup final and something else I think.

Boy said they were printing these for the commemorate signed framed shirts the club are selling. I said to him that I'm sure the advert said they'd be the exact same as the shirts the team wear at Hampden. He replied that its still up to the ref and he's yet to make a decision and he couldn't confirm.

So I checked the official website again and it does say "exact same as the team will wear on the pitch at Hampden".

Obviously this is not confirmed. I'm just a nosey bas passing on what he saw. :o)

Till this thread I'd forgotten I asked Boozy on Wednesday what strip we would be wearing in the final. We are the home team so expecting to wear our home strip.

Just out of interest when did all this nonsene about a strip colour clash arise - Hibs and Celtic played for decades without any need to change their strips - home or away - even in B&W TV days there was no problem (never saw any change strips in the 60s/70s) - so what is this actually about - who has a problem with the colours? Or is it - as I suspect - just another merchandising ploy?

Miguel

I agree with you that it is a nonsense. I can't recall either club wearing change strips against each other until the late 1970s. Can distinctly remember Hibs wearing a yellow top against them at ER around '76 or '77.
In later years, think it just became a marketing thing - Hibs have had quite a few kits they have barely worn.
At the 2001 Cup Final, the referee asked both teams to change, because he was concerned about the amount of green and white of players and fans causing problems.
For a while, there appears to have been an unwritten rule that no part of any teams kit clashed, but I have noticed this seems to have been relaxed - ironically causing problems when we have played Dundee and Falkirk.
Because of the darkness of our strip and the amount of white on Celtic's, there should'nt be a problem.
If the ref decides there is, only feasible solution is us in white or yellow and them in black.

As a previous poster said - we are the home team

Interestingly, the fa cup final, man city are the home team wearing their home shirt

Wigan also have a blue home shirt so are wearing their black away top.

Just saying but the SFA don't play the logic and common sense game too often

Far me it should still e the black and white telly test.

Are they distinguishable? If so crack on.

If not, (like Hibs v Falkirk) then away team changes.

Erm... I'll guess "Winners" :greengrin

And, when they change into their famous G&W home strips to parade the cup in front of 22,000 blubbering bairns

Did Celtc fans invade the pitch every time they were getting humped in those days? Same thing happened when we were 3 up in the League Cup final, didn't it?

It was the Dryburgh Cup Final of 1972. But yes Celtic fans threw bottles from the top part of the terracing causing fans near the bottom of terracing to spill onto the park. Match held up Hibs loose it a little and let Celtic back into the game after being 3-0 up. Final score was 3-3 but a Corky special and a late goal from Arthur gave us a 5-3 win and showed us Celtic were not invicable.

My understanding is that the team to win the first semi final match will be the home team. As we played the semi on the Saturday and Celtic played on the Sunday that makes us the home team by default.

Should not matter anyways as long as we play in green and not that awful yellow effort.
