It's hard to believe any mumbo jumbo after last year but lets look at some (coincidences or omens for this match)

13 years before the last century Hibs became the first Edinburgh club to lift the Scottish cup.
In this run Hibs beat Hearts in the third round unbelievably 5-1.
Now 13 years after the last century here we are, doing it all again in a weird time mirror image type thingy.

The first time Falkirk won the Scottish cup was 12th April 1913(Beating Hearts in the semi)
Exactly 100 years and 1 day later, Hibs pull off an unbelievable comeback to knock them out.
St mirren also knocked Hearts out in the 1987 semi 100 years after they where formed.

In 1902 Hibs beat Celtic to win the cup a year before Hampden opened.
111 years later we play the same team a year before it closes.

Hibs have won the Scottish cup twice and not for 111 years.111=3

At some point during the first cup win theres a chance we had a player/fan called fat Penlon?

I soooooooo want us to lift the cup.

Last time we knocked hearts out a cup we went on to win it.

After last year though, when all the signs, omens and coincidences seemed to all point towards us, I don't buy any of it.

What will be will be.

Very much this, this "written in the stars" pish is cringeworthy. I want us to win the cup as much as everyone but if we win it, it'll be because we deserve it, not because of this rubbish.

I agree it's rubbish. But no matter how you look at it it's still a bit too strange.

In my life's experiences, the number of omens that are created for us winning a cup are directly proportional to us not winning it.

I don't believe in Omens and Superstitions, if its gonna be it will be...

But this one that came to light for me was very very interesting...

Hearts won the cup in 06 beating Hibs at hampden along the way...

The following season, at Easter Road, With Calum Murray refereeing, Hibernian beat Hearts 1-0 in the cup...

Hibs then beat a first division side after extra time in the semi final of this cup, and went on to win it beating Killie along the way...

Falkirk were also involved in the semi final that season... There was a 5-1 scoreline involved in both stories, so maybe just Hibs to win this season's cup on penalties?

Just struck me as strange that did...

Anyways as I said, if we are good enough we will win it, if not, no omen in this world will save us!!

Not one for omens. Thats why I never get hung up on who we play in the final. If we're going to win it we will.

But I've never been this old before....

There's an h in Hibs and Scottish Cup.

Celtic contains letters of the alphabet, just like the term runners up.

No more omens please. If we play to the best of our ability there is a decent chance we will win. Play like we have been for the last couple of months then we will get pumped. It's that simple

I just saw 2 Magpies. But then I walked over 3 drains so that probably cancels out joy the magpies provided me. Which means is just back to 1 team v another.

Maybe if I touch some wood it will swing it back in our favour though. Ahh crap a black cat. Ohh well maybe next year.

Here's an omen.

We have the best striker in the country who is a die hard fan of the club.

We've beaten celtic already and can do it again.

We're in the final.

The rest is utter pish.

Nonsense.

2013-1902=111

111-4-3=104

1x0x4=0

That points to it being 0 years until we next win it.

The last time Hibs won the cup, an Italian was pope.

Now we have an Argentinian pope.

Diego Maradona played in Argentina and Italy.

He scored a goal with his hand against England, in the 1986 World Cup.

Alan Rough was in the Scotland squad at the same World Cup and had to use his hands.

He was 34.

Alan Maybury is 34.

Hibs 1-0 Celtic

Alan Maybury 90th minute winner.

The clue is cabbage

We are the cabbage
A cabbage grows in the ground
The cup final is played at a football ground
The last time we were at that ground for a final was a very dark day
Mushrooms grow in the dark
Closed cup mushroom are one variety
Take the cup from the ground and where does it go?
Easter Road of course.................simple

For those old enough to remember, that is taken straight out of the Ted Rogers 321 logic book regarding clues to win dusty bin!

In the search for omens I've become a haruspex. My first sacrifice was a Yam - the entrails didn't tell me anything so I sacrificed another one. Still nothing but I'll keep going until I've checked all 400,000.

Can a resident historian clear this up?

Given the war years etc when the trophy wasn't played for, is this year the one hundredth Scottish cup campaign since we last won it?

Oh and I thought Hibs.slate was fantastic 10/10 though technically Hibs.morse may be more Victorian

I was going more for firsts or other hoodoos being broken this year as an indicator, I saw the fact Adam Scott was the first Australian to win the masters as a good omen, his first major too. won in 2013 although 13 is considered unlucky by some, it isn't by all, obviously, so unlucky 13 could be very lucky for the :hibees
