"Middlesbrough was different. In my first season there I played 19 games, and 17 of those were with a broken leg. It was dreadful, really. In my second game I fractured my fibula but tried to come back after about six weeks. The specialist told me I was fine, that I could play, but my leg was agony. There was one week when the club said they were desperate for me to play, that they were short of midfielders, so I trained all week and tried to come back again, against Norwich, after a couple of months [in October 2010]. This time I lasted 43 minutes before my [broken] leg took another crack."
Ouch. Hope he stays fit until end of season as even in the short time he has been here it is clear he is a class act. An important player today for his quality and also his winning attitude IMO.
