View Full Version : What happened to the Hibs of August to November?

After the dissapointment of the first game of the season at Tannadice, Hibs were flying until about November. Where is that team now?

I find it really difficult to believe that this is basically the same group of players, albeit with some additions in the January window.

There's been a lot of talk of progress and I've defended Fenlon by saying that I've seen it but the last 4 months league form is shocking, to say the least.

So, again, what happened?

It's a Hibs team. History dictates that - if we are even to be graced with a decent stretch in any given season - it will be over by Christmas.

Opposition teams getting wise, the usual weak willed, soft touch mentality and fundamentally mediocre players ensure we limp on until the end of the season to one extent or another.

That is the REAL "Hibs" way sadly. All down to a pervasive mentality - or lack of it - that seems to dwell deep in the bowels of ER, cos no amount of changing managers or personnel can seem to get rid of it.

Bad weather slump, seems to happen every year, pish excuse seeing as its different players and managers. Very annoying

All.we can hope for now is that we stay above the Yams and get to the Scottish Cup Final. Been another disappointing season unless we can get our hands on you know what.

Should be doing a lot better in the league regardless of who the manager is.

More players capable of doing a job most weeks needed. The likes of Wotherspoon don't seem to be able to sustain form.

Agree with this. And taking him as an example, he's had three years at it now

We were lucky in a few games in that period, imo

but our play was a bit more fluent and played some decent stuff at times (usually in one half of a game), for example look at our last 2 games...beat of ICT and thumped of Well. Earlier in the season we were 2 nil up against Caley and drew 2-2 but we played decent...and we beat Motherwell 4-0... we looked very dangerous every time we went forward.

Now at the business end of the season and once again we have a manager and set of players who cant deliver.

Fenlon cant get much out of his players & the negative slow non football is painful.

We have the cup still to fight for, but as always the case with Hibs many fans are becoming fast tired of the team / season.

Though does it not show the plan for how he wants to play? The next stage is to ensure we can sustain that. That takes a period of being able to bring better players in and settling and developing the ones you have.

If next year he can't do it then I will certainly join with questioning why it hasn't worked.

Very easy to pick out Wotherspoon...what about the 12-15 he has signed?!

Dosent stop it from being true though. None of the squad have been able to keep up their form, LG aside, if they had we would've been sitting in second.

Yes plenty of them haven't sustained form either. Some taking steps up, se have been injured, some maybe not good enough either. That's why a team needs to be built and worked with as well as added to. Changing managers the players every year is why we are where we are. Let them play together for a bit.

Easy to get tired of the team when the play is so poor, we will never win the league, we might win a cup every 20 years, so is it too much to ask to watch an exciting fast attacking team every other week? We might not win more games but atleast we would be entertained. Now I'm off to the cinema ;)

Wasnt bemoaning the fans - been fed up with the team for months.

Fenlon has dissapointed big time.
