I noticed Motherwell had a drum in the match a fortnight ago. Seems to be more and more common these days.....

Drum has been a massive help to atmospheres at Easter Road, although the odd team that has someone banging a drum for 90 minutes with next to no singing can be rather irritating!

a drummer in each stand, who drummed at times in response to, and at times in unison with the other drummers, to lead and direct the fans chanting from different areas of the ground, would provide a drummer with greater purpose imo, and if all of the crowd played their part in the chanting, it would create a great atmosphere, and a welcome change from the well worn 'we are hibernian fc' etc. However, it would probably make the drummers even more annoying if the crowd didnt join in with the chants and you just had 3 guys drumming back and forth.

exactly the type of thing i was meaning in my post above. would be class if we could pull it off, but would need everyone to get involved to make it really powerful.

are there any staticians out there who could tell if there are any studies into the influence a crowd can have on a players performance/chances of success etc?? Would be interesting to determine if it helps or hinders, and what are the least/most positive influences. I think it fair to assume 'Colin Nish your s***e' from about 5 yards away could be considered a hinderance, but players must pick up on the vibe of the crowd. If there was evidence to suggest certain types of crowd behaviour could boost team performance, it would be useful to encourage fans to behave in that way.

Are there statos/sports pschologists on this site, who could help with info about ways to improve performance, come on guys, use your knowelde to help the boys out. But let me make clear that i feel no obligation whatsoever, and i am also perfectly comfortable and without concern, therfeore completely comfortable discussing the fact that I don not have, and have never had any performance issues in any shape or form...just so thats clear. Not that id be bothered if i had like...perfectly comfortable like..

Would hate to see you at a South African/South American game

For me the drum is good as long as there is singing involved
