Havin had a busy time since the final whistle at Kilmarnock the cup semi-final plan was swung into action. It has been thought that a lot of hibbys don't really know how difficult it is to plan a display etc and put it all together. So seeing as hibs fans are donating it will be good to update you on how we actually get from the drawing board to the Semi-final display. So over the coming weeks there will be updates as to how we make it all happen. You may be suprised as to how much work goes into it. So for you info I will updat so far what has been occuring.

Prior to the final whistle at Killie, a plan was already in the head of sect43 for a semi final display. It has to be that way so we prepare for any eventuality. The plan was printed out in very rough draft before basically going before sect43 core group for approval. A meeting was basically convened, the rough outline presented to core members and Thankfully approved. The display will be card and surfer. The design is not being released as of yet. The longer it stays under wraps the better. After the meeting a liaison with the club was established for blueprints of Hampden and a Fantastic offer from an un named hibby as to supplying us with A2card at basically what we can describe as a great deal.

The plan was then printed out in a further draft. A visit was arranged with Alex Hall of Hampden Park and a member went along and studied and photographed the sections the display will be held in. A great visit followed which pointed out a small difficulty but this will be overcome by a final tweaking with the design. Then the whole card had to be ordered after carefully calculating quantities, colours. layout etc. Then designs had to be printed out on acetates for projection purposes. This is after the totally final design was amended to adress the Hampden problem.

A negotiation ensued yesterday with the owner of a location where sect43 do all artwork. After a few pointers the place was secured for our use. The club allow us to paint in the east stand concourse so the final surfer will be painted under cover and allowed to dry overnight. The surfer itself is the size of the pride of edinburgh surfer. But it comes on a roll. So it has now been cut into equal sections and using a members sewing machine has now been sewn into the basic shape of a surfer. This is the tip of the iceberg so far. An update should follow next Monday as to how busy the guys have been. GGTTH

You should make the display 600 red cards and a giant red surfer with a big white P on it.

Absolutely fantastic effort guys and I can't wait to see what you come up with this time around. The Hampden displays last years were brilliant!

That's right pal, he just mentioned that for a laugh...as you suspected.

Meanwhile: Real Ultras overseas get their kicks out of doing it, so the kiddy on ones in the weedge have added that to their must do list.

Indeed. Maybe should be added to the agenda for the next time the core group convene?

Great work - thought last year the displays were good and anything to add to the Easter Road / Hibs / Hampden experience is a bonus when Scottish Football needs to more excitement.

What section at Hampden will Sect 43 be in and what section will the card display / surfer be in? Hopefully something central and a busier section as this is obviously key for it to work.

Would be good if the club could put out the usual sea of green notice - Encourage everyone to wear green - bring flags etc.

Fair play for all the effort that's been put in. Seems a bit much for something that's gonna be on display for about 1min, but I'm quite a lazy bas.

It would be good if Hibs, who are going to be gaining financially from the semi (and potentially a final), donated the cash to get the surfer made so these boys don't need to faff about with sewing machines and the like.
