It says on the outside of a bag of cement that you need to keep it undercover and unopened and only then you can use it for up to 6 weeks.

I have left it in the rain:rolleyes: and there's a hole in the bag, it's been sitting outside for two weeks. Can I still use it for simple mortar work or will it be a bit dodgy?

If you manage to mix it into a mortar then it might be okay. Do a test with a half bucketful and see if it sets/"goes off".

Not the same but quite a funny story i was told by an older student a week or two back. He and his pal left concrete to set outside over a few weeks in the summer but it rained so more water got inside the block. Once brought inside they never waited for it to dry properly and it was heated, the water turned to steam and boom, the whole thing exploded making a nasty mess. :tee hee:
