I think it is Newcastle, with Ronnie Simpson in goal and Jimmy Scoular on the left.

So, I'm guessing the '50's, aye? Is that the League Championship flag(s) flying in the terrace?

No floodlights, so before they were erected. On second look, that is John Paterson, Craig's dad, on the right.

Wasn't it the case that some fans, back in those days, watched both Hearts and Hibs depending who was at home? This was when it was real cheap to get in, big terracing etc...

Did that myself. Went to Tynecastle to watch Hearts when I was too young to travel to away games with Hibs. The strange thing was that I didn't go along to support the opposition and IIRC probably wanted Hearts to win.

Wouldn't happen nowadays obviously.

You are right "some" fans went to watch both clubs. Not as many as some would have you believe. My dad never followed anyone but the Hibs even when he was signed to play for the dark side(fortunately he was farmed out and rarely had to put on that ****ty shirt):greengrin

I never did the Easter Road/Tynecastle thing. Always went to Hibs reserves games when the big team was away :agree:

Snap!

Always remember the smell of liniment coming from the dressing rooms under the old north stand.

Didn't the Edinburgh Select wear white and black strips? I used to go and see Hearts games occasionally when Hibs were away, but mostly went to reserves.
