Just a bit of fun, not an uber fan debate. We often hear about how we should support our local team, meaning the one nearest to where we live. This is obviously bollocks as family ties and other influences can be much stronger influences than geography.

So, admittedly shamelessly robbed from our Pink chums, use the following site and your birthplace postcode to work out who you SHOULD support :greengrin

http://www.footyroots.co.uk/

My answers:

1. Hibernian (http://www.footyroots.co.uk/) (0.7 m) (http://www.footyroots.co.uk/)

Born in Perth so certainly not the closest of supporters but born on the day we beat Celtic 5-3 at Hampden in the Dryburgh Cup Final...does that count for anything? Not many will share their birthdate with a cup win for their team I reckon!

Born at the Eastern General, a few months in Pitt Street and three years in Wellington Street before moving to Trinity. Used that one as it's where I grew up. Checking the results I'd have needed to learn to swim better for any of the Fife clubs to be local, and there was no "Livingston" back then.

I would like to question some of the distances from that site as Airdrie is over 14 miles from where I stay and I don't think Stirling Albion are further away than either Airdrie or Clyde.

Are these distances "as the crow flies"?

1-Falkirk (2.1 miles)
2-East Stirlingshire (4.3 miles)
3-Stenhousemuir (4.3 miles)
4-Alloa Athletic (9.8 miles)
5-Livingston (11 miles)

Plymouth Argyle (3,400 m) - I think this is just a little too far to consider getting a season ticket.

2. Heart of Midlothian (http://www.footyroots.co.uk/) (3.3 m) (http://www.footyroots.co.uk/)

I would like to question some of the distances from that site as Airdrie is over 14 miles from where I stay and I don't think Stirling Albion are further away than either Airdrie or Clyde.

Are these distances "as the crow flies"?

1-Falkirk (2.1 miles)
2-East Stirlingshire (4.3 miles)
3-Stenhousemuir (4.3 miles)
4-Alloa Athletic (9.8 miles)
5-Livingston (11 miles)
6-Clyde (11 miles)
7-Airdrie (11.1 miles)
8-Stirling Albion (11.6 miles)
9-Albion Rovers (12.6 miles)
10-Dunfermline (14 miles)

The whole purpose of the site is to get you to divulge your exact postcode location, thereby making it easier for them to sell your personal details and consumer patterns to the highest bidder.

Same here for where I was brought up. But the bl**dy thing doesn't do Germany!

I have the same problem but it would be, in this order (first four, can't be bothered calculating the rest):

1) Unterhaching - 15.9km

Yipp! Lived there for 4 years and grew to love the team, folk and colours. Had the added benefit of living there during the Rehhagel years!

Unfortunately just too far from here to get there on a regular basis, but luckily most of my mates are Werder fans so I do still go occasionally.

I should support Kilmarnock as that's where I stayed but for 17 years I lived in Leith and go home and away to watch Hibs, the reason I moved to Kilmarnock was I met a girl on holiday, we started off as a weekend thing(she would come up to stay with me for the weekend, then after a few months she got pregnant so I moved to Kilmarnock and 4 year on were still together.

I was born in the Simpson Memorial in the old ERI, which apparently is 2.0 miles from the cesspit and 2.6 miles from the Holy Ground.

However, as everyone knows, the prevailing wind in Edinburgh in January is a strong westerly, and allowing for wind-chill and the added exertion of walking into the wind as opposed tom walking with a following wind, it took MUCH less time to get to the Holy Ground than to the cesspit.

Besides, if we ever wanted to look at dangerous, smelly wild animals, we went to the zoo.

And the family home was in Duke Street, LEITH, less than a mile from the HG.

Rather annoyingly I had "the Simpsons problem" which is slightly closer to Tynie. My first address is 3.7 from Tynie & 3.8 to Easter Road. Where I grew up results in Hearts 4.0 and Hibs 4.2. My current address gives me a tie of 3.1.

However. If I use my parents' address when I was conceived (slight assumption but they were never that adventurous) then Hibs win by 1.5 miles to 2.2. So, I'm going with that one.

(Ahem... we shall never talk of this again...)

Wow, and I thought I had a deprived childhood

Yes, my father survived on the unwanted heels of bread and slept on dough mixture.
