Was having a look through the 'Away Days' Twitter page and thought that maybe we could get some Hibees to post their pics up of a Hibs away day that they've experienced?

There was more than that there. There was another couple of blocks
To the left of the photo on the top tier. I remember being above some huns in the stand.

How many were at Ibrox that day? And does anyone know if anybody outside the old firm has even came close in recent times to taking an away support like that in a domestic tie?

I think we had slightly more in the league cup semi in about 86? This was before they had the corners filled in and we had the entire end. Pretty sure it holds around 8000.

Think we had around 6500?? I was priveliged to be part of that crowd that day. One of my all time top 5 away days.

First two trips to ibrox were 3-0 wins, both that season. Been back once since and won 1-0.

I propose that Hibs.net stops sponsoring players and starts sponsoring you to go to Ibrox every game! What's your record at Tynie?

Unfortunately I've only seen us win twice at tynie! 2-1 night game and 1-0 Kerr. Have seen too many defeats and draws to mention, and have erased from memory :greengrin

EDIT: it won't be a while til we make a trip through there again, plenty time I save

The feeling I had surrounding that SC tie at Ibrox was the feeling that we were just going to win, at no point did I even consider defeat or a replay an option. With that number of Hibees travelling through (especially to that hellhole!) it definitely gave the tie a completely different atmosphere.

Loved this...!!

Think this game actually made my son a die hard Hibee! He loved every single minute of it, even if he did take a bit of a punch to the head at the 3rd goal. Wants to go everywhere now haha! Never saw us beaten on the road... St Mirren, Dundee United, and Killie.

He cannot wait until tonight :agree:

Absolutely, we owned Ibrox that day and it will go down as one of my best football memories

My first trip to Ibrox was to play Celtic in the Scottish Cup, 0-0 game. Sure we had a good crowd there that day. We lost the replay I remember, was it a semi final or was it because Celtic Park was being worked on?

Oh and not sure if there's pics of the crowd but my best away day would have to be the Millennium derby.

Ayr United 3-3 draw in the league was a great one. Yogi in the crowd, Latapy's first game.

Not exactly an away-day, a neutral ground.

One for those of us who were kicking around in the 80's, anyone else there when we took took 7,500 through to Ibrox for the second leg of the League Cup semi final?

I was in for the kick-off, thousands weren't however and Hibs supporters were still coming in up till half-time. We got beat 1-0 on the night but went through 2-1 on aggregrate. I reckon most of us were touching cloth near the final whistle but the Hibees got there and much barryness was had in the aftermath.

Still got beat in the final mind.

I missed the first 20 mins of that game. Massive Hibs support and some of the worst traffic I have seen on the way to a match. One of my favourite games even though we got beat. Nothing like knocking the Old Firm out on their own patch

Think that was my first trip too. Went to both games. Hibs fans were in the stand opposite the tunnel. Not sure if it was a semi final though? I cant remember.

Was definitely a semi for the Scottish cup. 95 rings a bell? Sure Collins scored for them past Leighton in the replay? 3-1 sticks in my head for some reason?

Definitely a semi final.

Jim Leighton saved an Andy Walker penalty late on.

We got pumped in the replay. Sure we where 3-0 down early doors.

Just looking at the Ibrox and Killie pics there. Fantastic. Was at both of them. Am i right in thinking we took around 4k to Fir Park when we secured Europe in the Mowbray era? I cant think of any team outside the OF taking that kind of away support in the last 10+ years. Add the 40k and 30k we have taken to Hampden in recent years it is very impressive. Somebody should delete this thread incase a yam looks in. Dont want to disappoint them. We're only a wee team guys.

I think they still hold the record for away fans, there were 400,000 of them at Dens Park in 86.

I well remember the Cup game mentioned in the 80s. The very next game (I think) was a league game, also away to rangers.

Probably because of the size of support we took in the Cup, they gave us the whole upper tier of the Broomloan but, in the event, only about 500 Hibbies turned up. Very surreal atmosphere but the first game I ever heard the 'Hibernian, ra-ra-ra' chant.

500 for ibrox in the 80's was a big support :)
Was just telling my youngest about that song the other day :)
Though it's definitely older than that, was a favourite for pissed up away trips!!

I was in Perth Royal Infirmary that day, doubled up in pain with appendicitis. Listened to the first half commentary on hospital radio .. then they started playing the patient requests at 9pm!!

Not just doubled up in pain but stressed to the max hoping for a score update inbetween the torture of tunes from Jimmy Shand or Rosemary Clooney!!

Eventually found out we'd got through (better pick me up than any of the painkillers I was getting), and I certainly made the final.

Anyone remember an away match at Dumbarton toward the end of season 84/85. It was more or less a relegation decider and Hibs put on free buses for the fans (30+ LRT double deckers IIRC) in addition to the usual 10-15 supporters' club buses. The crowd was 5064 with 75-80% of that being hibees. Hibs won 2-0 but played probably as well as they had all season and we could have won by a lot more.

I also remember this game http://www.fitbastats.com/hibs/game.php?gameid=4008 notable mainly because we won at Pittodrie, they had black goal nets and Joe T scored the winner into the beach end in front of not very many travelling Hibs fans :greengrin

1985 league cup. Best support and atmosphere i've ever been in once everybody got in, the whole stand was shaking. I remember Kano telling me he'd never been so disappointed in seeing such a small support after thinking so many tickets had been sold but once we all got in it helped the players hold out.

Yes, Brian Rice volley!
The scarfs were hanging out of the window all the way home from the Dumbarton rock that day. Relegation fears were eased.
