Maybe not the best but the one I remember from my first games at ER in the late 60s is Chris Shevlane. My memory is a ginger crew cut. A no-nonsense full back in the days when defenders had a licence to kick opponents.

True. Plus how do you define 'ginger'? Does it need to be a a proper flaming carrot reminiscent of late 70s Liverpool supersub David Fairclough? or does a wee bit of ginger creeping into the blonde sideburns count? And what about those players just carrying a quarter recessive gene passed on by both parents?

Its a folicular minefield :agree:

Gordon Hunter looked brilliant when he first broke through never really progressed as we all thought he would.

Still had some magnificent games though Skol cup semi versus Oldco looked like Baresi.

One of my favourite players.

Sorry to ruin the party but I have to mention Brian Welsh who played in our relegation season of 1998. I remember attending the final denoument at Dunfermline which ranks as one of the worst days ever as a Hibs fan.

Welsh successfully took Hibs and later Cowdenbeath to court for various things. Perhaps he should have been a lawyer instead of a footballer.

Not so sure about that NSF. I think you face two serious hurdles. First is the Scandinavian and Baltic nations who can occasionally produce spectacular Gingers. More threatening to your chances however are the Irish. Remember that they are a separate nation, part of the EU and without doubt capable of a truly world class Flaming 11.
