View Full Version : Direct Free Kicks in the 80's

Does anyone else recall the tactics we used for direct free kicks in the 80's where two players were positioned in front of the ball, thus blocking the ball from the view of the defenders, and just as our player was about to strike the free kick, the two players would move to the side in the same way the doors on the Starship Enterprise would open.

Was this ever a successful tactic? I honestly don't remember.

or maybe I dreamed it - it was something along those lines

Was also used about 7/8 years ago I remember. Scored 2 freekicks vs Kilmarnock in the same game at Easter Road using that tactic I think.

One of my fav ever goals. I was behind the goals. Magic it was. Joe scored and cue hertz scarves onto the pitch. :-) good riot in gorgie rd after aswell
