That this is a major fraud event is pretty apparent.
If you have eaten any of this you may be (1) Morally appalled by the idea of eating horsemeat. (2) Indignant at being mislead as to what you are eating.
However the media typically suggest that there is some major health danger. They talk of food being "contaminated" by horsemeat. Horsemeat is not dangerous to health. What they mean is "adulterated" . This is not just a matter of pedantic semantics. Regretfully the public tend to interpret events in the most negative terms.
The situation should never have arisen. It should be dealt with as soon as possible.
And no I am not Anti-vegetarian, nor have I any connection to either the food or hotel/restaurant industry.
But creating unnecessary anxiety for the sake of a sensational headline is irresponsible.

Agreed but then that is what the media do.

My advice would be treat all news articles and headlines are complete crap until proven otherwise.

While I agree to a point I think the word contamination can be taken to mean impure. In this sense a Beef Burger which is 50% Horsemeat is contaminated.

Horsemeat per se may not be a health risk but with no quality assurance of what horsemeat has been used and how those horses were slaughtered or indeed what they eat or were injected with during their lives I'm unsure how you can make such a sweeping statement.

This. Ask Findus etc to trace and guarantee the quality of the horsemeat that should never have even been in their beef products in the 1st place.

They'll **** their pants, as they know they aren't able to guarantee the "purity" of the horsemeat, which is a separate point from the simple fact that it should never have been anywhere near a "Beef" product in the 1st place.

It seems in hard times people always turn to eating horses.

Sorry I should have made clear that I was referring to the consumption of horse meat per se. I fully recognise that the quality and provenance of any meat is paramount. My point was that to almost immediately jump to references to potentially dangerous substances as bute is, I would suggest, irresponsible, but unfortunately only to be expected.

This would just increase the moral outrage for me. It's bad enough eating horseys, but to know that they've been ****ging other horseys without even being married to them makes me livid. :panic:

Seriously, I think we are all just pasties....sorry patsies.......who get shat upon constantly in a multitude of ways. This meat thing is just one of the many examples of how producers of stuff con the public into accepting and paying for sub-standard carp......sorry crap.

As my butcher - who is 100 % human and wears a wee white hat - said yesterday: "Ask yourself how Tesco's meat prices are the same now as they were ten years ago."

My main issue with it is what it represents. We can't be 100% certain what is in the food that we buy, which really isn't good enough. :agree:

I've no problem eating Horse, if Tesco started selling 'Horse burgers' and 'Horse lasagna' I'd try them. :agree:

This is just the tip of the iceberg, processed and cheap microwaveable food will rarely contain anything like the ingredients we suspect it will.
Just look at these Rustler Micro burgers and the likes all full of ******. Time to get back to basics if you really want to know what you are actually eating. As others have already stated the price should say it all really.

:greengrin you know what I mean.

Thankfully for some reason burgers and lasagna are 2 things I tend to make from scratch as opposed to buy.

Saw a politician bumping his gums about it on the tv yesterday, really outraged and angry about this subject. I thought, why the long face?

I've often wondered about this - I don't think I've ever seen a fish with fingers.

Sounds a bit fishy that story. Think I'll take your post with a pinch of salt.

Hope he wasn't talking pacifically about the ones in my freezer. They are karp at the best of times, never mind when there is sea horse at the bass of the ingredients.
