Didn't realise he was at S****horpe... the only thing I know about them is that they had the best football programme in league 1 last year.

God sake. I always wondered why Scun-Thorpe was censored. I've only now just realised...

I love the way Martin Jol pronounces Man City. Once you hear him say it, you cant help doing it yourself. :greengrin

in response to thread. will never understand why we let him go. not best technically but quick, strong, always gave 100% and scored goals!

I like Sodje and think he was one of those players that people continually hark on about "being able to do the job" that could actually still 'do the job' for us, in the top half if the table.

But he's gone, so we need to move on - we'll have better and worse strikers than Akpo.

Is it as good as the Osvaldo Ardiles pronunciation of "Tottingham"?

Sodje's one of those players who I think would have been great for us, had he not been trapped in a team full of journeymen. Same with Donaldson, who i've seen score some cracking goals down there.

Nah he wasn't. He was a player with limited ability. He done well at the club though so respect must be given for that.

Would welcome him on our books now, right enough.

Would add a lot to our play at this moment I reckon.

Sure he went to play in china too!

You don't need ability in the SPL to be a decent player at this level.

He did well in a team full of no hope's, so I reckon he'd do even better in our current squad.

I think the way Fenlon has them playing just now, Akpo would fit right into the team. He was able to win the ball in the air and it seems like that is what Fenlon is after. Week after week they launch it high and week after week, kick after kick, it comes right back down of off some big defenders head and back onto our defence causing pressure for ourselves and by-passing the midfield

Big Akpo i didn't mind. It was Junior Agogo who was the nightmare. Him and Matt Thornhill summed C********d up for me.

Sodje played a big role in keeping us in the SPL last season.

By no means the purists favourite, but defences hated playing against him, and he chipped in with a more than reasonable goal return. I was disappointed when Fenlon let him go. Could have done with him in the final. Id go so far to say that if he was having a decent day, the curse would be over - he was that mercurial.

Was it not two seasons ago now? When Hamilton got relegated?

Did Calderwood not let him go and brought in Garry O'Connor and Aggogo?

Jeezo, are we really pining over Akpo Sodje, truly average player and archetypal journeyman.

What has Kuqi done to convince you that he is better than Sodje?

Technically probably less than average. The fact was though, he was a strong, tall, fit, hardworking player with enough pace to beat most defenders in a footrace. If he wasn't such a natural athlete, he would never have made it as a footballer. However, he knew enough about how to put himself to use.

What, all 1 of them?? If we are to have a "big muscular option" in our forward line, then god knows he's better than Kuqi.

If youd rather have Sodje than Griffiths or Doyle i suggest you find an alternative to crack cocaine. Our front two are not a problem.
