Apparently the lyrics linked up with how the fans felt about the football club/how the team played but ultimate results in the 70s or summat along those lines.

"I realize the way your eyes deceived me
With tender looks that I mistook for love;
So take away the flowers that you gave me
And send the kind that you remind me of."

"You seemed so full of sweetness at the start;
But like a big red rose that's made of paper
There isn't any sweetness in your heart.
Paper Roses
Paper Roses
Oh how real those roses seem to be!
But they're only imitation
Like your imitation love for me."

Clubs like Killie - that have spent long stretches out of the top flight, tend to have these type of songs. Airdrie it's "Can't Help Falling in Love"; The Arabs reappeared in the Premier with "beautiful Sunday", and "The Rangers" have "Penny Arcade".

Something to do with not taking yourself to seriously I think. If only The Skids had been Hibs fans, we'd have "Into the Valley" that's a Hibs class song.

Also, they don't have the benefits that we Hibbys have of a constant line of celebrity fans lining up to pen songs for us. We have two of the finest songwriters in the modern world, and it sort of spoils us for choice.

No we just had Rolf Harris re-recording his song for us....I don't remember the result of the game that song was for :wink:
