Feel a bit sorry for Partick to be honest.

Agree. Was just speaking to a not so happy Jags fan. Wish my brother, an Arab director, had told me before news leaked out and I could have had a wee wedge on it.

With their budget being tighter than a duck's bahookey and the compensation paid to Partick for McNamara and I assume Simon Donnelly they would have to sell first. Wonder if Makhel-Smith or Russell will be sold to fund a rebuild?

I posted it on a thread last week. I was also told that he will be getting some beans, not a whole lot, but enough to bring the players with him from Firhill, that he would like to bring.

Patrick fan mate of mine isn't convinced anyone would want Erskine. Can have some moments of brilliance but is neither a winger or a striker, doesn't work hard and has little pace. Either winning a game with a little moment or not in it or contributing to it at all.

Reminds me of someone who scored over 100 goals for Hibs

Don't see how Brighton selling Makhel-Smith (sp) would givbe UTD funds ;-)

Mackay-Stevens might be a shout tho :-)

I mentioned that and he thought the comparison might be a tad generous!

Ted McMinn was the nearest in style he could think of.

Not so sure it is a great move for McNamara, United are a team on the way down in my opinion.

Thompson funds have run out by the looks of things and they'll probably have to sell good players to pay current costs and then replace with inferior players.

I think it's too soon for him. He'd be better off honing his managerial skills at PT for a little longer.

I agree as well on feeling a bit sorry for Partick. They were going through a good spell and it could now be all over.

The one thing in his favour is that just about every other club is also doing this- Motherwell, Hearts, Killie, Aberdeen. This means the competition will drop and it is a chance to show his skills. He obviously is good at developing youngsters looking at the ones coming through at Partick.

Levein offered it first apparently .. so he may be 3rd choice!

i'm disappointed in young mac, partick gave him his first break at managerial level ? and he can't even see out his first full season as a manger with them, he's young and plenty of time to move upwards, what price a little bit loyalty to the club that gave you that break young man

I would agree with that no doubt though thinking his star may drop with a few losses however would have been good for him to lead a decent Thistle team back in the Premier league..

Perhaps Partick got a good pay off and were happy to take advantage of the fee.

Being close to people on the Falkirk board, their view is that whilst Levein was their first choice, Pressley was not offered the job.

Neither of these were first or second choice. Elvis was very close but only person offered job was McNamara.
