The cartoon seems to refer to political aspects of the middle east but exception has been taken on racial/religious grounds.
Are we not allowed to criticise Blair, or Cameron for that matter, as it would offend Catholics/CoE's?
Newspeak rules.

I think it was the timing of the cartoon , on Holocaust Memorial Day, that was badly-judged.
That aside, it's controversial, but in the traditions of satirical cartooning.

Exactly the case.

Im baffled, frankly. Apart from a tenuous connection between anti semitism and blood rite myths, and the fact that theres some blood in the cartoon, i cant see any justification for the accusation of anti semitism. Unless criticising Israel is now considered the same thing :dunno:

Indeed. I agree with CWG's view of it. As for the reaction, it's one of those terms that now, as you say, is the standard term used to respond to criticism of Israel, regardless of what that criticism is and whether or not it is justified.

Wow, I'm really surprised at that reaction on this forum:rolleyes:
If the cartoon had libelled Islam in the slightest, or suggested that Islamists are something less than cuddly, or featured Assad, who's killed more Arabs in a year than the IDF has in its history, we'd have had a ten page thread by now, featuring at least five pages from Liverpool Hibs alone, and links to the entire output of Information Clearing House for the previous week. The outrage would be leaping off the page.
The double standards on here are amazing. If you're that concerned about censorship and freedom of expression, where's the thread about the cultural vandalism of the Islamist thugs in Mali? Same place as the one about the genocide being committed in Syria, probably.
The cartoon is offensive, and its timing, of which Scarfe was well aware, doubly so. But as long as Israel is the target, he , and the obnoxious Steve Bell will get away with it as far as the liberal elite are concerned.
Pathetic

Very strange post.
I'm talking about a cartoon. In exclusion. Nothing else.
Do you know what 'double standards' actually are? It doesn't sound like it.
