TBH anything that glorifies modern day gangsters is a no from me.
I watched the film about Charles Bronson and it portrayed him as the nutter he really is, highly intelligent but still s complete nutcase.

Interested in this argument.
1. when you say "glorifies", is that different from "telling the real story"?
2. do you have the same problem with portrayals of past gangsters, like Boardwalk Empire?

Think most of these gangster type flicks are based on biographies written by the criminals themselves and tend to show how these people seen themselves, which in most cases is even further from the truth than the public image these people had beforehand.
Not seen the film and don't really have a clue about who or what it's about, but I'd wager my socks that it's making some ruthless ******* out to be some sort of lovable rogue who respected his mum.

Arnie's new one looks good. It leaves one in no doubt as to what side he's on in the gun control debate.

The likes of Ferris are much more recent than the mobsters of yore. Like the Evening News and Kenny Ritchie, The Daily Record made a fortune out of building the wee man into being a big man.

There's a big difference between a present day criminal like Ferris with his victims fresh in the mind and "historical" figures.

Never seen Boardwalk Empire as Virgin for some reason decide not to list the channel it's on.
I can't honestly see Ferris allowing a film to show the real him, he'll have some control over the content. The gangsters films of yesteryear, Goodfellas, Godfather etc, do unfortunately glorify them but because it's about people we don't really know, we accept these films for the entertainment they give.
Prefer documentaries about these people as it tells the real story behind their gruesome lives, unfortunately Ferris and his vile and nasty life is still recent in our memories and his way of life still goes on.
