Wonder what Liam Craig was thinking last night?!

On the basis of last nights game, he probably can't help but think he's made a big mistake signing for us.

We have fans saying they won't be back, and all it needed was 60k and the money for Wylde and the full house signs would be out and everyone would be happy. I'm surprised at us for missing this opportunity?

Petrie gets lots of kudos for his business acumen but it's bollocks. He is not a good businessman, he's a boring, safe businessman in charge of a boring, going nowhere company. Doldrums spring to mind.

I didn't hear the comment or boo's but did hear someone behind me shouting something along the lines of 'why the hell are you booing him?'

Maybe the boo's travelled from the south and he was confused. Or maybe someone in the east thought he had signed for hearts. Or maybe someone thought he'd boo him as a preemptive boo for the first time he steps a foot wrong wearing green...

Aye and we have a millionaire owner who doesn't give a **** about us fans, as long as his books balance. Getting sick of this. If he has no interest in Hibs, get rid

Not in anyway defending the board but have you ever met STF and spoken with him about Hibs ?
Suggest if you haven't that you try and do so
THEN let us know what you think

No one is more fed up than me but the blame certainly isn't in STF's lap

I've heard of fans booing a player that's agreed to leave their club on a pre-contract (Gary Caldwell) but booing someone who has agreed to join your club!

That's certainly a new one!

In fact, I would say it's another first for us! :aok:

:agree: assuming Craig had won the ball from Maybury that's probably what happened.

Back to the original point though, I'm with the OP here - if another 30K or so (and I find it hard to believe a club like Hibs can't lay their hands on that sort of dough) could have brought Craig in early then to me that would have been money well spent. Even just for the St Johnstone fixture, having Craig for rather than against us may just have tipped the balance enough to gain a point - which would have kept us above St Js and hence potentially 80K better off!

Sometimes in football you need to take a gamble to win and that applies in the boardroom as well as on the pitch.

St J scrambled to bring in 2 midfielders on deadline day which suggests they were ready to lose Craig.
January window tactics are crazy! Why wait til last minute?
Getting Craig in and forgetting about Robertson & Done might have been a better deal all round...

I think I'm right in saying that the club offered £20k at the death but it was turned down. There just wasn't any more money there to offer more.

We don't have an overdraft facility no? Or ability to get a loan? I would hate for the club to really need cash if its that bad we can't raise 40k.

I was at the game yesterday and Craig played in CM. He was outstanding, getting stuck in all game which the United players struggled with, and he had good delivery and pushed forward well. I really hope weve signed him to play in the middle rather than out wide as from the few times Ive seen him, I think he can be a little bit wasted on the wing.

Hopefully he is played in the middle. Luckily, Harris has really started to establish the left wing as his own, as long as he keeps up these very impressive performances it should be enough to keep Craig out of that position. We still have Cairney who can play out there too and it's yet to be seen who we'll be pursuing in the transfer market so I should think we'll see him in the centre.

While i dont know anyone who wants to replace STF, he in my opinion keeps funding a club thats been run very shoddily football wise by the people he put in charge. We also have lost money which he has had to make good every time.

Now as you say, they are not forming a queue outside the ground wanting to invest, but who in their right mind is happy with the way our club has been run recently?

I now wait on those quoting Hearts Leeds and Portsmouth as examples of how not to run a club, when we all know thats the only other option to what we have now.

I'm saying nothing of the sort: the teams that you have listed, and their current league positions, are clear evidence that it is possible.

You referred to STF's investment in Hibs and how that money has been wasted: that is not something that has happened this season alone, so I assumed that you were talking about something a bit longer term.

These teams are as likely to have a bad season next season as a good one, because, with the exception of Celtic, all SPL clubs are run in a similar manner: a combination of youth team products and comparatively poor paid players.

I'd suggest those clubs mentioned DO punch their weight and often punch above it much more regularly than we do. All on a budget smaller than ours, this suggests to me they are being run a little better than we have?

I cant understand STF saying he's happy with how Petrie and the board were running the club, when we have clearly under performed regularly under their control?

What STF says and whats happening on the park just does not add up for me.

What Tom Farmer considers as "running the club well" - Hibs exist, we aren't in debt, we have a future.

What you consider "running the club well" - finishing 5th or above, winning cups, being in Europe.

Was very impressed with Stevenson yesterday, I did however think his game lacks an attacking edge and we missed out a few times yesterday when he got into great positions around the box. I think Liam Craig will fit perfectly into the role on the left Stevenson was playing yesterday and will give us a lot more creativity and goals. Im actually pretty excited about out midfield for next season.
