Sol Bamba should be in every team over the last 40 years, never mind just the last 10.

Agreed. I also can't believe Kevin Thomson isn't in some of these selections. It would be great to see this team:
.................Williams
Whittaker Caldwell Bamba Murphy
..........Beuzelin Thomson
Zemmama.. Brown .. Riordan

I'd have Bamba and Caldwell ahead of McPake and Jones anyday.

I thought Caldwell was an accident waiting to happen I've never seen a defender give away as many penalties or be caught out of position. as Caldwell. When he was. good he was outstanding but he was poor sometimes

:agree: This is a fictional team, and with the quality we'd have in front of them, they would be ideal at playing out from the back. :greengrin

Caldwell was an excellent player for Hibs. The fact that he went to Celtic and made the odd mistake for us (and does have more than his share of mistakes that lead to goals for Wigan) has meant that many seem to remember him as some kind of calamity prone, joke figure, which isn't really fair.

I wouldn't say he was a joke figure but I wouldn't put him down as one of our best centre halves

Fair enough. I would have him in my team of the last ten years I think - when you look at what he has achieved since he left us, I find it hard to see how people could argue that others were better. Same goes for Sol Bamba - prone to the odd error yes, but has gone on to play at a higher level. I really liked Ian Murray at CH also.
Rob Jones will be fondly remembered, and rightly so, for his role in us winning the League Cup, but I got more annoyed at him on a regular basis than I ever did with GC or SB, and was much less bothered when he left.

Ideally, the best recent Hibs team, will be the next eleven that Pat Fenlon picks.

I think Caldwell was easier to replace than Jones was but that may well be down to finances and the ability of managers to spot a decent player. It's all about opinions I suppose

It was more nostalgia. Met him while he was here and he took me as a guest to meet the whole team so for that alone he gets in my best ever Hibs XI  and he wasn't THAT bad :na na:

His career has went very wrong for some reason! He was a decent player for us and I always thought he'd end up at a Championship/League 1 team but he's away playing for some team in Cyprus! Everyone has that one player they loved!

Hard to believe that it was 10 seasons ago(02/03) that Smith, Jack and O'Neil were still here, the last of what was McLeish's team, seems longer.

If Hibs kept half of the home grown players we'd be the ones beating Barca at ER and playing Juve in the last 16 of the CL! Some of the talent that has come from hibs is incredible
