Having lost my own Dad at this time of the year it just brings back how sad he must feel....... He was only 50!.......

Sad for anyone I lost my dad just after Christmas also when I was 15. He was only 53 when he died. Sad news for Adam. Thoughts with him and his family

Everyone connected with the club is saddened to learn of the death of former player Charlie Adam, who was found at his home in Dundee yesterday aged 50.

Charlie played for Saints in the mid 1980s, when the club was plying its trade in the lowest of then three divisions in Scotland and was one of several players from the Dundee junior and amateur ranks brought to the club by Manager Ian Gibson.

Joining from Downfield Juniors in 1985, Charlie made his debut against East Stirlingshire in August 1985 and he went on to play a total of 28 games for the club, scoring 9 goals from his midfield berth before heading to Brechin City.

Dundee United, Partick Thistle, Forfar Athletic and Arbroath were the other senior stops on Charlie’s career.

Charlie’s son Charlie junior currently plays with Stoke City while other son Grant plays for Rangers.

The thoughts of everyone at McDiarmid Park go to Charlie’s family.
