We also have a wee problem in midfield. Although its more competitive in there our 3 central midfielders will never score a goal.
Spoon might grab one or two as will cairney.
We still need surgery in that team.

Fenlons changes were designed to shut up shop with 3 in the middle of midfield but he completely missed the fact that it was down both wings we were being taken part and zero was done to correct this. That is worrying.

However I think it highlights the lack of depth in the squad as you look at the bench and I can't see anyone who could have helped stem that tide down the flanks.

We probably would have been best served staying 2 up front and keep attacking which might have made Motherwell at least think about the counter attack threat instead we just invited them on to us time after time.

My thoughts exactly as I watched this game unravel
This is the fear which plagued us last season and has not gone away sadly....sort it out Fenlon..NOW!!

Capitulation of all capitulations. The players were great until about 60mins then went missing. What a way to undo all the great work recently. Furious.

Fenlon subs sparky cos he's playing with an injury and clearly effecting his performance and he replaced doyle with a striker so not a bad sub, we don't have much on the bench though to make a real difference, and if planA isn't working our planB is not good enough

He should have replaced Griffiths with Caldwell and kept Doyle on the park.

I have no idea why he subbed Doyle off.

We seem to panic whenever the shape of the team is changed from anything other than a 4-4-2. So lets just stick with the simple but organized 4-4-2 instead of messing around with it.

Furious. Players and manager, both at fault. Just not good enough. Honking run of form recently in the league. Gotta sort this out soon an just hoping we start next weekend at killie. Enough of the bad days at the office or these things happen. Lets make sure it doesn't happen.

20 minutes to go,we looked fairly comfortable at 2-0, sat back and invited them on ! They had 1 serious effort before then. Hibs looked to have a serious lack of pace which is worrying. Sad to see Spoony not confident enough to take guys on? He has the talent but appears to be taking the safe option with passes back to defence.need to pull the finger out guys!!!

Can I just add that I can accept a referee making mistakes but not lies. When Hately jumped over Cairney the ref clearly (from where I was sitting) gave a free-kick to Hibs. It was only when Hately was getting treatment that he shat himself and started pointing to his head as if to say "I stopped the game for a head injury"... utter ballocks. I thought the our fans took that surprisingly well... I was raging.

It's looking more and more like another false dawn. Same old problems of lack of pace, width and poor defending. Petries bid to sell more half seasons on the back of the Hearts game has been well and truly blown out the water.

Maybe we should just accept that we are limited and that getting beat is part of the scenario associated with that. I wonder how many of the posters were actually at the game? If all the folk who gripe actually attended then maybe we could afford to put out a better team, ?

Fair enough I suppose but I have seen so many Hibs disappointments in the 49 years I have supported them that I feel I have earned my current armchair internet fan status.

I can just imagine what happened today as it's happened countless times before. I've actually seen them in person twice this season and both times they imploded.

I did not go today, an accident with some bottles of magners. :greengrin Well i have been to quite a few games this season, and we have been much much better than the last couple of seasons.

We are work in progress, and our players and manager are still learning about each other. Rome was not built in a day, but we are better, and i believe we will get better.

People have to remember just how low we really were last season, and look where we are now.

Thing is G we should be preparing for griffiths/Mcgivern departure as both will IMO be returning south.whats the problem starting Caldwell/Lewis when they're contracted I don't get it. Today reminded me of yogi when we had 10 men against Dundee utd. Going with the flow rather than being offensive.very poor.

We have been seriously pish since turnbells turnadoes with the odd high or decent team. Otherwise, Hibs are ganting and its no wonder our neighbours lap it up.

Whats the point in bringing loan signings and not playing them, especially when they have been up there with the best of our players?

I have no idea if they will stay or leave, but Fenlon has said he wants them to stay, and the club are doing all they can to keep them until the end of the season.

What information do you have to suggest that wont happen? Fenlon has also said he is looking at players, we have been linked with a few in the press.

This is a team thats being formed, its nowhere near finished yet, but nobody can deny its much better than last season.

Exactly......work in progress. 4th and still in the early stages of rebuilding. If you had offered me that this time last season I'd have bitten your hand off.

'well went 4 games without a win. Now they have a wee run and are second. We're only 3 behind. Who knows, another run and we consolidate in top 3, perhaps even better.

Either way.................we are improving. Someonbe else said on a other thread that ER is a place we look forward to going to. I do this season. That alone makes the difference for me!

It's continuous improvement we need but unfortunately we're reverting back to the previous bad habits and negative play.

There's no denying we're better than last year, wouldn't be hard.
I have no information re loan players, but being realistic Mgivern will be returning. LG will decide where he wants playing IMO but PF should be preparing to lose loanees, ie more game time for current kids on bench. Caldwells looked capable & Handlings netted already. In recent games Kuki & sproule have been given game time ahead of said kids IMO

Coz I love n support my team?

You dont choose your team imo.

Its easier supporting Hibs IMO if you are realistic. Otherwise itll hurt more.
Dont see.your point.

That was poor the day!

Wasn't great from the start, the place was far emptier and a lot more quieter than any other game this season.

Couldn't believe it that we were 2-0 up. We were pretty tame, slow in movement and hardly threatened. Motherwell by far the better side.

The three goals, carbon ****ing copies. The players Xmas night out tonight I believe. Had to be thinking of that when defending like that.

First time this season I've left ER feeling like that this season, hopefully the last!

Based on a guess, you just said so??????

Caldwell and Handling came on today, how did they do? As you said you have no idea on whats happening with the loan players, i'm guessing Pat knows a little more than you do on that score, and will pick them on that basis?

Why the hell would ANY manager deliberately play a weakened team, other than to rest players, or they were way out of form?

No guess from me, as I said being realistic.
Caldwell & Handling held there own just fine.
Seems like its you guessing what PFs plans are.

Why the hell would ANY manager take of an un injured striker for a midfielder that's not kicked a ball in nearly 3 months competitively whilst his team are 2-0 up @ home.
That's the real question here !

So you know the loan players are going back, and we are not keeping them for the rest of the season?

Yes i am guessing, as i dont know whats happening with them?

I'd imagine the manager brought Deegan on, to get him fit. You'd think having a 2 goal lead would be a decent time to do so, the manager certainly did.

Ok so your not getting the realistic bit so we,ll move on.
I'd imagine if we are bringing players on to get them fit 2-0 ain't the scoreline to be trying.
He boobed big time & if he's man enough to say so then he learns and it's down to experience.

Yes you are correct, i dont get the realistic bit?

I remember Deegan going straight in against hearts early in the season, and he'd not played in weeks. It worked that day but not today, what did he learn that day?

Some you win some you lose, thats football.
