The entrance to Hawkhill Close (the development behind the East Stand) is taped off this morning with circa 15-20 Police officers in attendance, and three Police vans and a forensics unit. Anyone know what's going on?

What was the first incident?

Not entirely sure what happened but was a Monday night about 4-5 weeks ago, there was around 4 police cars/vans, 2 ambulances and a private ambulance.

Didn't seem as serious as today though, police presence seemed to have doubled by time I'd got back from school, few journos milling around too

It's a bit of a nightmare isn't it? I live in a new development not far from you and the anti-social behaviour can be quite grim at times - nothing as bad as you've experienced here but in the five or so years the development has been open I've opened the blinds in the morning on occasion to find the car park swarming with Police conducting a drug raid.

I was pretty naive when I bought my flat to be honest as to the extent of buy-to-let ownership in these new developments. I'm now the only owner occupier in my block and it's fair to say a good few of my "neighbours" don't really give a flying **** as to the fabric of the building given they're only living there for a short period.

'Its getting like Beirut round here'...

A wee bit off topic but I wonder if people from Beirut know their city is still a euphemism for 'violent hole' when its actually quite a smart, peaceable place these days?

Two Lebanese in conversation 'This area's gaun' tae the dogs, its gettin like Lochend' :greengrin

Would certainly feel safer walking the streets of Beirut at night as opposed to Lochend, and I'd much rather have a night out in Gemmayze or Monot Street than the West End of Edinburgh!
