I'll try and update via twitter but I'm filming the match, so might only manage half-time and ***ll-time updates. Hopefully someone in the East stand will keep people updated.

A case of these lower level refs having to show they are ready for the step up?

The misery continues but we may as well get all the bad results out in the same weekend.

Thanks for the updates by the way.

Neither team deserved to lose it before pens. Baffled by the red however, both sides had previously committed these sort of fouls receiving yellows.

Harris looks a player!

Played with him at school, he's got a huge future.

Only if its denying a goal scoring opportunity

It was cynical - Best comparison was one by Ian Black (or was it mikey stewart?) at ER a few seasons back where he stopped a counter attack.

I'd expect any professional who's not on a yellow to make it before a chance is created in the final third.

My son was there. Support not segregated so dont know turn out for hibs but he reckons 300 to 400.

Nah, that's not the rules - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Professional_foul - if someone deliberately takes their opponent out of the game, it is meant to be a red card. Now if you're asking whether or not referee's adhere to the rules, that's a different story!

Horribine was right to make the foul but a bit inexperienced in letting it look so much worse than it was. Still never a red, mind.

As others have said, Harris looks genuinely capable. I felt we had the beating of them today but at times lacked belief and didn't run at them enough.

Good game.

Didn't make the game today.....where did Alex play today mate ? He loves taking a man on and has that desire to beat and dribble. I'd have him ahead of Sam Stanton, just.....and Sam is making the bench regularly.

Thought Harris Stanton and Handling were best for us against a big strong Celtic side.

Harris has good feet and great pace, and if he can beef up physically over the next couple of years he can mature into a very good player.

Good effort from the lads today. Unlucky

Actually, it is the rules. Covered in Law 12 - Fouls and Misconduct

Sending-off offences:
A player, substitute or substituted player is sent off if he commits any of the following seven offences:
- serious foul play
- violent conduct
- spitting at an opponent or any other person
- denying the opposing team a goal or an obvious goalscoring opportunity by deliberately handling the ball (this does not apply to a goalkeeper within his own penalty area)
- denying an obvious goalscoring opportunity to an opponent moving towards the player's goal by an offence punishable by a free kick or a penalty kick
- using offensive, insulting or abusive language and/or gestures
- receiving a second caution in the same match

There is no language for "professional foul" in the laws. The referee needs to take into account whether there was a clear goalscoring opportunity, or depending upon the nature of the challenge, serious foul play or violent conduct.

Fair play. Have a referee mate who mentioned this whilst watching a game with me, but what would he know? :greengrin
