Yes - can never understand this - has scored goals wherever he has played, won league titles wherever he has played - think they said his record is 1 goal every 2 games - pretty damn good.

Without a doubt, the greatest player Sweden have ever produced. The clubs he's played for, the trophies he's won, the number of goals he has scored. I really don't understand how he is so underrated by the media.

It was an excellent goal from an amazing player. One thing that really irks me is people who are saying it was a 35 yard overhead kick when it was about 5 yards outside the 18 yard box.

Ibra on his day is one of the best in the world. His 4 assists for PSG last week were excellent, then to top it off with 4 goals against Engerland is amazing. The problem with Ibra though is he has to be the main man in his team. He needs to be the centre of attention, if not he can go into a silk with his diva attitude and look as if he has no care in the world. A bit like Berbatov, although he is not as good as Zlatan.

I don't think that's fair criticism, and it reflects a lot of the insular punditry in England that just hasnt watched him play regularly. Ibrahimovic recognises this himself; in his post game interview when asked why he doesnt get more respect, he says 'Thats The way it is with the English. If you score against them you're a good player, if you don't score against them you're not a good player'.

Judging by the lines running over the pitch (from the mowing) it looks like he was about 26 yards away from the bye line. But he's not directly in front of goal, he's at an angle, so the distance is greater than that. The edge of the box is 12 yards from the post, and he was in line with the edge of the box, and his shot was pretty close to the goalie's left post. So he was about 26 yards out and 12 yards to the right (as he looks at it). Using simple math, that makes the shot about 28.63 yards out. Roughly. ;)

Agree It's close. Larsson was an unbelievable player but Ibrahimovic is something special.

Followed him.closely at Barca and by all accounts his attitude left a lot to be desired, drinking, missing training etc was apparently common. Makes you wonder how good he'd be if he lived properly.

Larsson and Ibra together, scary thought!

Agree.

Due to my personal preferences, I'll always tend towards silky passing moves, but even in the 'individual strikes' category I wouldn't say it matches Van Basten's '88 volley, for example.

Ibra is probably only third most successful Swede to play in Italy. Nordahl had an unbeluevable recordfor club and country, against the worlds best defenders.

I would suggest he's got a bit more than luck about him to a) even think about attempting it and b) executing it. I've seen him score goals like that for years in Serie A, he must be one hell of a lucky player ;-)

If it was good as you claim then surely one that a footballer of any nationality could only dream about then!

Have to disagree. It's not luck. He tried to score a goal with an overhead kick. He did. It's not luck. It might be a low percentage shot but he did just what he set out to do.

Luck is when opportunity meets preparation. Or something like that. :-)

Go to agree with your disagreement - the lad certainly seemed to know exactly what he was tring to do and there was nothing much lucky about the outcome. However, in terms of best goal ever, I'd look for a bit more artistry and team effort in the build up.

But there's no denying that Ibrahaimovich's effort, for vision, technique and sheer audacity has got to be up there for the best ever INDIVIDUAL goal category :not worth

Which is my point exactly, most footballers from most nations can only dream about scoring a goal like that, England included. I'm not his biggest fan actually but no one can doubt the guy's ability....his 4 goals the other night just opened some more English eyes to it ;-)

Also, if you don't think he's scored goals like that before, have a quick check on YouTube to see how "lucky" he's been, and how often too!
