I've just seen on the news that Celtic are celebrating 125 years of their club. Does their badge not say 1888?

Or are they trying to milk their fans by saying they're now in their 125th year.

Smells either way.

the club was formed in 1887=125 years, played it's first game in 1888

it's the badge that's wrong ? they will have another centenary next year for the strip :) lol

I never realized that Celtic FC saved thousands of starving children's lives, simply by coming into existence.

I guess you learn something new everyday.

This report managed to imply that Celtic were founded by Brother Walfrid without any mention of the club which inspired the whole idea ie Hibs. There was no mention of the charity game between Hibs and Renton which contributed. There was no mention of the bookies and pub owners who were the driving force behind the club and saw them as a brilliant way to rip off gullible Irish fans in Glasgow. There was no mention of the thieving way in which Celtic tried to destroy Hibs by stealing most of our players. This could go on forever but I just don't have time. Suffice to say most of Celtic's history is a romantic myth.

Spot on! I saw this featured on BBC Scotland. Not a mention of the role played in their foundation by the Hibs or indirectly by Canon Hannan and Michael Whelahan. Shameful but not surprising.
