"Stewart also follows Manchester United as his English side, and he explains his love affair with both Celtic and Man United in Frank Worrall's book Celtic United"

Ultimate glory hunter.

Rod Stewart just screams Sellick to me.

Every times he's in the paper he's dressed head to toe in club leisurewear. He's basically the annoying loudmouth celtc supporting knuckledragger I always seem to get stuck next to on holiday except with a bit more cash.

I remember reading his autobiography, his fathers favourite players were Gordon Smith and George Young of Rangers

Rod has mentioned on several occasions in the past that his dad was a Hibby. His dad and uncle are pictured on the sleeve of his Smiler album.

Rod's main footballing hero was Denis Law back in the sixties and seventies and I think that was a big part of the reason he followed Utd - at a time when they weren't seemingly universally disliked. He also mentions Utd and Celtic in the lyrics of You're in my Heart.

Not my experience.

Me Neither. There certainly wasn't the level of hatred back then to what there is now. Wanted both Man Utd and Celtic to win the European Cup. I even wanted Hearts to win the Texaco Cup. :greengrin

I recall an edition of Shoot in the 70s when Rod stated that his favourite football teams were Man U, Celtic and Hibs.

I heard a radio interview with him in early 70's I think. He'd just attended his 1st Celtic game when they won 5-3 at ER. He said was greatest game he'd ever seen & was between his 2 fav teams.

Scottish when it suits him but often heard speaking with a painful Mockney accent. Celtic can have him.

His Dad must've been sound though.

I heard a rumour a few years ago that Rod is ACTUALLY a Hibee but says he's a Celtic fan due to the fact that being a Celtic fan will give him more of a fan base over the world....

You do realise how big a star Rod Stewart is/was worldwide? It would be a hell of a charade to engage in when he himself is probably better known in North America than Celtic. No truth in that at all.

I'm set to be a global rock star in two years time. Enjoy me while you can! I'll have Wayne, Messi and Xavi on my twitter account and emulate my hero and alleged Hibee Andy Murray's 101 guide to trading up. :agree:

Bad luck. That might have been worth something before it was defaced...
