I know film production companies are most likely Glasgow but really would be hoping that SOL would be majority based in Leith - is Edinburgh that expensive to shoot ? I notice Shallow Grave set in Edinburgh was mainly filmed in The weege.

Unfortunately the parking in Edinburgh would mean they'd have to double their budget

I'm sure Edinburgh Council ruin filming in Scotland by charging too much.

I thought Shallow Grave was set in Glasgow and filmed here, whereas it was the opposite with Trainspotting?

Train spotting was filmed mostly in the weedge. In fact, other than the chase down princes street I can't think of any other Edinburgh locations!

Not sure about shallow grave but I though it was set in the new town? Filming wise I don't know

As far as the BBC goes Scotland begins and ends in Glasgow. You would be hard pushed to find anything produced by BBC Scotland which is filmed or based outside of Weegiland.

Apart of course from the New Year show which comes from Edinburgh Castle every year .. presented of course by Jackie bloody Bird and featuring ... without bloody fail ... Eddie "its got to be perfect" bloody Reader. If Glasgow had a castle I dare say even the New Year show would be filmed there.

Mind you ..... ITV are not much better ... but at least they managed to film some of Rebus in Edinburgh and even get a guy from Edinburgh to play the part ... only after trying the totally miscast John Hannah of course.

Look at BBC Scotlands flagship news show ..... Instead of being shown every night with Edinburgh's magnificent backdrop to lend some gravitas, style and dignity to the programme ... we have the Clyde and a muckle disused crane.

Nope ...... For BBC Scotland read BBC Glasgow
