Seems we like nigh time games, am now glad the New Year derby is an evening kick - off. Well done Hibs, great result, AND a clean sheet to boot. Hope the defence has tightened up for rest of season. Great 3 points tonight, really pleased. Now if Ross County can win this really will be a Carlsberg weekend.

Leigh interview!! Tremendous
Said he did not think the first pen was a penalty, I thought it was a definate penalty.
Also said with the 2nd one that the goalie asked him which side he was going and he told him the same side, but he still could not stop it.

According to SPLstats, the last 4 times we've scored 4 or more away from home have been at Fir Park.

The first penalty was a stonewaller. The keeper had a grip of Griffiths jersey and held him back. Pity the pundits did not seem fit to mention that.

I'm reading about biased TV commentators etc but they were 100% fair. We got the breaks, its about time we got some and we took them. The clean sheet should build confidence going into the next 2 home games and hopefully the result will get a good few more punters through the gates. Canny wait.

I thought Sparky was quite clever with the penalty - he wasn't going anywhere really but managed to lull the keeper in to fouling him anyway. We had the rub of the green at times but we still had to take our chances.

the pundits wouldn't have got a clear view because of the angle to be fair, the south stand was the best angle for seeing it imo

i didn't notice that at the time, i was thinking it was just a matter of time before motherwell scored we just couldn't get a kick/hold onto the ball for the first 20-odd mins(imo) so if that's what PF done then that was one helluva good tactical switch :agree:

Motherwell - and the Jambos - can greet all they like. Nothing wrong with the first, nothing wrong with the second or fourth. 3rd was a foul outside the box, and thier goal that wasn't given, well, Higdon was all over McPake, so we could argue that all day. We could have also argued that Higdon should have recieved a straight red for the "tackle" on Taiwo - it was reckless, and a potential leg breaker,
What else would they like to discuss?

The first goal was a cracker. Goalkeeper hadn't an earthly of getting anywhere near it, and not only was it a great shot it was a beautifully-worked move leading up to it.
The first penalty was a stonewaller. End of.
The second I initially thought was another stonewaller, but looking at it now on the wee out-take clips, it looks to me as if the tackle was just - only just - outside the 18-yard line, but it was a close call, and from the angle the referee was from it, it must have been very hard to call.
As you say, Higdon was fouling McPake all night, and his 'tackle' on Taiwo was indeed a shocker. All in all he was very lucky to last the 90 minutes plus.
As for the Motherwell 'goal' that was disallowed - well, Rangers had one just like it disallowed at Stirling the other week. It's happened in the EPL recently - at Fulham? It's happened to us in the past. And it's happened in the World Cup even more spectacularly than it happened to Motherwell last night. It happens. Officials should be up with the play and in the right position to make the right call, but sometimes they make mistakes, and when they do, the fans of the club that suffers complain bitterly. That's what fans do.
Ben Williams did the right thing - he got to the ball, scooped it out of the goal, and played to the whistle.
All told I thought we played well tonight - there's a fair bit of skill in the team now, and a very pleasing willingness to work hard for the full match. The players look fitter, too. PF seems to be getting there.
All I want for Christmas now are contract extensions for Messrs Claros, Griffiths, and McGivern.
And for the Yams to lose their appeal against HMRC, default on the debt, be put into administration and DIE.
