Went to see this play last week here in Nottingham and it was a tremendous piece of fun and nostalgia going back to around seasons 1974/5/6. The production is based on the memoires of Dave McVay, a journeyman midfielder/defender who played for Notts County for a few years in that decade without pulling up too many trees. Whilst it's great for any Notts fans or football fans in general, it's witty observations of the era make it interesting and entertaining to all.

McVay's diaries were originally converted into his book Steak... Diana Ross - Diary of a Football Nobody, which is a terrific laugh-a-minute read for any fans of the beautiful game from back in the day. The 'Steak... Diana Ross' reference comes from McVay's stereotypical answers given in County's matchday programme to the questions of 'Favourite Food? Favourite Singer?'. Certainly one of the very best books about football I've ever read.

The play is getting rave reviews. I understand the film rights of Dave's original book have long been bought. If it ever makes the big screen you'll love it guys!

My little review:

When I saw the thread link on the home page which only shows the first part of the title I thought it was going tae be about Harry Potter.

Nah, it mentions the word 'football' mate - totally inappropriate for that tube. :)
