Just started on one of those obscure channels, The Big Match Revisited from 1983 - Leicester featuring the late Bobby Smith versus Oldham featuring the 19 year old Andrew Goram. Not a bad wee match at all.

Saw that last night. Good game and Leicester won 2-1 without Gary Linker. Muddy pitch and pouring down with rain. Real fitba.

Is this the show that is on ITV4? I have watched a few of them and it really stands out that the " over sea", player is the novelty or the draw, but the basic squad is home players and a decent amount of Scots playing. Proper football as well.

Those were the days when we had a significant Scottish player presence in the English top league. Players were bought for big money and salaries and the national team were stronger as a result. Don't think we will see this again unless the TV deals go pear shaped.

Proper tackling, no diving, banter between players and ref , a ball that flies straight and a crowd that sways and moves. Those were the days.

Love The Big Match Revisited if only for dear old Brian Moore. Denis Law was a presenter on it too.

The Football is great. No faffing about back and across. Lump it up the middle or get it out to the wings. Uncomplicated stuff.

The pitches look bigger somehow!
