Hello to all my fellow Hibees...
I never really post on here, I generally come on for a look to hear news etc to do with Hibs.
But today, I need to post, and I'm asking for help from anyone that can.
My mum was diagnosed with a brain tumour over 5 years ago. She never complains about it, she gets on with life, and is always looking to help others. Over the last few years, she has needed treatment such as chemo therapy to stop the growth of the tumour. After a couple of years of the tumour being at a near stand still, unfortunately, it began to grow again. Recently she went through 6 weeks of daily radiotherapy, we will get a scan in a couple of months, and we will find out how successful the treatment has been. We are hoping that again, the growth of the tumour has stopped or slowed down.
My mum has been nothing short of exceptional in her attitude over the last few years. I certainly cant imagine myself being so optimistic should I find myself in the situation. Her attitude has inspired me... I decided I wanted to do everything I can to help improve the care and treatment for brain tumour sufferers. I have signed up to trek the Peruvian Andes, at altitude of around 4000 metres, to Machu Picchu, The Lost City of The Inca. In doing this trek, I hope to raise money for Brain Tumour Research, in order to help others just like my mum. My Dad, and 6 of my mates have also decided to join me on the trek.
If you would like to help, please donate whatever you can, no matter how little...
