Probably my favourite game aswell. Was in the west beside the south and went flying down the stand celebrating with a bunch of guys I never knew.

You're not unbeatable chant was great.

Pretty much every player in both teams would walk in to either of our squads these days.

Fun times.

:agree: The best quality from both teams in a derby that I've been to. Gary Caldwell was superb at right back and I'd forgotten about Humphrey! Incredible atmosphere at ER too. You could have sold out the current capacity to see that game.

Happy days indeed

Brilliant! Noticed a clear shot of Lloyd Quinan standing applauding at 0:45. Not front page news, but noticed it and thought I would share as a totally useless piece of information...

Stupendous game. I seem to recall ending up flat on my back in between seats in the old East after O'Connor's goal, absolute mayhem

Superb. As mentioned both teams were unbelievable. Thoroughly enjoyed that, would love to have even just a selection of five of our players from then

Brilliant game, really high quality.

The thing is thought that whilst that was a very good Hearts team some of those guys were on £7k plus a week, the Hibs team was on a fraction of that and a lot of them were home grown players.

ER looks absolutely brilliant packed to the rafters, hopefully we see it looking like that again sometime soon, over to you Pat.

Also loved Scott Brown playing Janakausas for a fool. Wound him up slyly and watched as he couldn't control his temper.

Always loved that first-half Brown-Stewart-Riordan-O'Connor move, would've been some goal.

Second goal was the loudest I've ever heard Easter Road, was like white noise.

Random point - highlights are infinitely better when you actually get to see a crowd reaction at full time.

Also does anyone have the 'prediction' from boabster the trumpet on kickback were he confidently stated there was no way Hearts unbeaten run would end at ER?

I was a bar manager at this time, and ended up missing many great performances and results in the Mowbray era, this included - was obviously delighted with the result but absolutely devastated to miss it.

Awesome!! how fast & skilful was Deek, how fit was Gaz & how blonde was Katy!!! Archie Mac was also up to scratch, in one sentence he said deek just needed a bit better balance & in replay he said " great balance ".
Love it!!

fanatstic game and how good to see ER full. Also much prefer from watching highlights from that side of the pitch instead of waht we get now with an empty first 4 rows of the east

Quite sad to think how good things were when you compare them to now. If we had that crop of youngsters coming through this season we would be serious contenders for the league.
Great times and i'm glad to have seen such an amazing team which was basically all homegrown, unlike hearts who bought that team (and are now paying the price:greengrin)

What a brilliant two teams we had. The Edinburgh derby was a true spectacle at this time and the crowds reflected that. Play good, exciting players and the crowds will come.

Think that period peaked with the 3-2 Boxing Day game at Tynecastle - even though we lost it was probably the best game in Scotland that season, and a lot of journalists at that time made reference to the fact we had begun to top the Old Firm as a must see.

Ever since, under Mixu, Hughes and Calderwood (and as Hearts have declined), they've by and large returned to scrappier forgettable period of Blobby v Levein in 2001 - 2004. They were almost easier to deal with if you knew you'd get two good teams going at each other, despite the league importance and placings being higher.

The crap hand that fate dealt Hibs in the lead up to the 2006 semi final excluded of course.

Great memories and two good teams. It just shows how far we have fallen. Fenlons Hibs have got a long way to go to get near that team.

Riordan was simply outstanding that day as was all the boys, Kevin Thomson pissed all over midfield. What a team we had back then.

Sure it was this game that Vlad came out the West Stand after full time and pretty much started challenging Hibs fans to a fight. The police and some Hearts officials had to persuade him to go back into the main reception area.

Really? What an idiot! He must have s*** himself! No wonder he hasn't showed his face in Edinburgh recently and is hiding away in Kaunas knowing that his big team have been truly awful and not fulfilled the targets he set when he took over and promised everyone.

Amazing footage. What a team we had back then. I still have the scars and the memories of my mates specs landing 6 or 7 rows down from where we were sitting in the east.

Really enjoyed watching that, cheers for posting it. One of my favourite Hibs games.

That was some team we had back then. That squad with Stack or Williams in goal would win the league this year.
