There is a thread over on Pie&Bovril which has conjured up memories of when my old man surprised me by pulling me out of school one morning to see a game against Motherwell at Easter Road.

This would have been circa 95-97, would this have been due to not having floodlights via one of the stands being rebuilt?

IIRC It was 94/95 Hibs won 2-0 and Keith Keith Keith got both goals?...It was indeed an early KO but no idea why bud.

The floodlights were down for the construction of the North and South Stands.

The kick-off was around 3:30 midweek.

Was this game played around the time of Davie Cooper's death?

Can remember going to an afternoon game with my folks against Motherwell after that.

It was just before he died. They announced on the tannoy that he had been rushed to hospital. At which point, one of my mates made an anti-Hun non-pc remark I won't repeat.

They had just started pulling down the cowshed and dunbar end for the new stands.

Remember the game well.

My Dad pulled me out of school early because i has a 'doctors appointment' and took me to the game. My regular teacher was off sick that day. As we took our seat in the main.stand who should be sitting a couple of rows behind us. A quick 'I'll say nothing if you dont' and we all enjoyed a Hibs win.

It was a 'dentist appointment' for me :greengrin

You can always count on the old boys:thumbsup:

It was the 23rd of March as it was my birthday and I sulked all day because I had to go to school whilst the old man went to the football.

Arsepiece.

Had a wee spy at the results history, and the only two home games I can see around that date in March that involve Motherwell are:

22nd March 1995 - 2-0
21st March 1998 - 1-0

You sure you know you're own birthday?

I remember finishing work early to go to the game but cannot remember a thing about the game.

Interest comment at the end of the report, Motherwell paying 400k for a player. Doubt many clubs could afford too these days.

How could they afford that?

We were paying about the same for players then I think.

Not sure how but possibly because clubs weren't saddled with debt due to building new stadiums, crowds may have been bigger then and and that was before players wages got out of control?

Was it not 0-1? John Clark free kick?

Pretty sure Colin McDonald scored a second in injury time.

From what I mind the Motherwell game was Andy Millen's debut.

Yep, I had a ST for the cowshed and we were relocated to the North stand. Remember playing Falkirk midweek, old boy having to pick me up from school because I'd been given detention and wouldn't have made it for KO on foot!
