Spartans had to rely on two stoppage-time goals to beat Vale of Leithen 2-1 and guarantee their place in the quarter-finals of the East of Scotland League Cup. Wayne Sproule had given Vale a half-time lead from the penalty spot and the Innerleithen team looked as if they would record an impressive away win until Spartans’ two substitutes, Andy Martin and Chris Anderson, scored deep into time added on.
