The Eric Idle thing was brilliant, but apart from that I thought it was pretty poor with few other highlights. I found it was very disjointed and couldn't believe they repeated 3 or 4 songs as the athletes came out.

And who gives a toss about George Michael's latest single?

Decent ceremony but for me it didn't have the same wow factor that the opening ceremony did.

Thought it was a bit hit and miss if I'm honest.

Certainly not a patch on the opening ceremony.

Agree here, thought parts were quality but the pop-influenced part was weak and boring. Overall it was good.

Opening ceremony was fantastic, but very few people ever really remember the closing ceremony.

Kinda sad now, I'd really got into the Olympics. Fantastic performance by our athletes, exceeding the targets set before the games began.

Rio - you've got a lot to live up to, make it a great one for us!

Still reckon they could have finished the hand over part with a bit of Duran Duran...

I lost interest quickly and it didn't really return.

Thought it was superb, and when Freddie Mercury done his bit from the grave i thought that was the highlight.

I have never watched this before, but was very impressed with yesterdays event. :top marks

It was very impressive, just like the whole Olympics. Scotland alone could never have pulled that off. Another reason why we're better off in the United Kingdom.

If that greengrin had been a line or two further down the page I would've turned on the McGlashan big style:greengrin

The highlight for me was Boris dancing. Hilarious.
It went on a bit to long for me but was pretty good overall. A bit heavy on the Beatles though, somebody must have been to see 'Love'.

This was probably my most memorable Olympic Games to date as an adult. Before that, my memories are largely from the 80's, particularly Allan Wells winning the 100m. I really got into the games this year but didn't see as much as I would have liked. Maybe that was because of the American (NBC) editing? I know I could have watched everything live online but I can't do that at work so I had to watch the tape delay in the evenings. Saw a LOT of swimming, more than I expected but it was good. Watched a lot of the short track and field races and that was spectacular too. Would have liked to have seen some weight lifting but didn't see it any of the times I tuned in - should have looked at the schedule.

Thought the closing ceremony was amazing although not every piece of it. Spice Girls looked good. ;) Take That? Hmmmm. Didn't see The Who as the broadcast I watched didn't show them for some reason. I would rather have seen them than the Rio "preview".

Overall, I give the London Olympic Games a Gold medal. :aok:

Okay, I'll bite. By all means lets joust over questions of economics, defence, etc, but the Olympics are totally irrelevant in the independence debate.:cb

To stay on topic, didn't see it myself, but it looked good from the photos on the front of today's papers.

Master marketeers. They are far from the Best of British, but at every stage of their existence they have put themselves in the right place at the right time. The elephant in the room for me was the Floyd. The older I get, the more I appreciate how integral they are to our culture.
