Here for the taking.

Hearts are pretty poor. Amazing what the beginnings of a level playing field does.

Also WORST 'party' ever in the away end.

Spot on PB. Really do hope we can get a winner

Much better from Hibs, I saw the passion we have missed and for once we looked as if we wanted it more.

Deegan looks like exactly the type of player we need, and the goal apart Maybury is some much needed experience along with McPake and Clancy at the back.

Like night and day from last week. :greengrin

Deegan gives a bit of bite in the middle, Stevenson was a ghost again, Claros looked cool and calm when he came on, looks class..............Griffiths, lively as usual and got a deserved goal. McPake/ Hanlon, looked good, Maybury apart from error looked very solid, as did Clancy, Wotherspoon apart from pass for goal was wasteful with every other pass he made and looked as slow as a tortoise. Cairney worked his socks off as did Doyle...........good to see Kuqi in the stands, obviously signed him.:greengrin

All in all a good 7/10 today. :aok:

HoboHarry

Ignore him, it's a stick on certainty that the bedwetters on this site will find something to complain about regardless of how many positives they could look at.

Steve-O
12-08-2012, 01:25 PM
Thoughts:

Williams - looks slightly suspect at crosses / corners but too early to judge

Maybury - decent addition I think, other than ridiculous mistake.

Cairney - also not bad and looks like he'll improve. Tries to take players on

Deegan - seems to want to get on the ball and has a bit of steel

Overall, we probably should've won. A bit more composure/quality in the final third and I think we'd have won comfortably. Wotherspoon had 3 great chances to put players clean through, he got one right. He did not bad today though to be fair. Hopefully Griffiths not badly injured or we're a bit screwed.

I would've brought Sproule on instead of Handling though I have to say. We're also still missing the ever elusive creative midfielder...getting to Griffiths asap seemed to be the basics of our tactics, and there was quite a bit of hoofball on display.

Still, 1-1 not too bad although as ever there is that niggling feeling that they were there for the taking today and we passed up a good opportunity to beat them...

Allant1981
12-08-2012, 01:26 PM
Thought we looked a bit more solid today, couple of daft mistakes from maybury and clancy but much better than last week, cairney looks like he could be a good attacking player for us and good to see deegan adding a bit of fight in our midfield, still need another striker tho

Much better, Hibs. Still need to tighten up a bit at the back, but we created some chances and perhaps could have won. Deegan looks like the monster we need in the middle and he can pass a bit too.

The most disappointing aspect of watching the game on TV was the fact that Craig Burley was enlightening us with his unrivalled footballing insight with comments such as "Where is Dingwall, by the way?" before telling us that he has, in fact, played there.

Why do TV companies insist upon putting the most dull and irritating erchies on the end of a mic, to provide an aside to the guy who is telling us what is happening in the game? Craig Burley is ESPN's Mark Lawrenson. I feel that there is nothing worse I can say about him.

Still, accentuate the positives...

Well done Hibs. Good point gained. Onwards and upwards.

Keeper looked ok, seems to be a big lad who's not afraid to come out, needs to time them a bit better at times.

Back four looked very good, a couple of slack moments aside, I didn't think we looked like conceding. Thought hanlon and Mcpake worked well together, hanlon doing a wee bit sweeping behind Mcpake attacking the ball. Clancy looked excellent, Maybury looked solid, both had the odd slack pass, one of which cost the goal, but Maybury didn't let his head go down and continued to play well.

Wotherspoon looked not bad, passing a bit loose at times but worked hard and didn't hide, looks as if he's lost a bit of weight, could prob do with some sprint training though. Deegan looked great, a buzz bomb, but will need to be aware of Scottish refs love of carding folk, hopefully will get some fitness and learn the SPL a bit, I'd extend his contract now quite happily. Cairney was hard working and caused hearts problems, good to see someone who wants to take a man on, and linked well with Maybury. Stevenson unfortunately I felt was anonymous when he was on the pitch, dunno how long he was carrying the injury.

Doyle worked hard without anything really coming off, with kuqi coming in and the 2 young lads breathing down his neck I wonder if he'll get much more opportunity this season than he did last - could possibly do a job in midfield if required coz has a nice touch and awareness, may even get a game wide right. Sparky had a cracking game, Webster couldn't handle him at all, if he keeps up this mood and form we may struggle to keep him in January.

Claros looked ok, nothing more, adds more than what Stevenson was contributing today, but again is the most vulnerable if we could sign another mid. 2 young lads looked sharp, Caldwell in particular was happy to mix it with the centre halts, gave zaliukas a particularly rough time on the goal line prior to zaliukas's booking.

A sign of brighter times?

I would have liked to see Sproule on for Wotherspoon for the last 20 mins, as DW was getting the ball, but not beating the man into the box. Perhaps Sproule might have had the burst of pace at the end of the game to do this. Shame to see Griffiths go off, as he ran his socks off and consistently found good positions between the center halfs. Play it to his feet and he will create chances.

Decent solid performance. Better than most anticipated but still a long way to go.

What happened to the hertz party and taking the piss plans. They were super quiet for the second half. Odd after they said the game didn't matter but griffiths scores and it looked like they couldnt wait to get home to watch royal wedding reruns. Boring twats.

I do feel that we need to look at getting a youngster in for Sproule - much as I love Ivan's spirit, he's losing his pace.

We've got experienced pros like Maybury, Williams, Kuqi, Deegan, McPake, Clancy - it's the right time to do it.

Which is why Sproule should be used towards the end of games, as an impact player. I agree that he has lost the blistering pace he once had and that there is no long term future for him at Hibs, but in the last 20 minutes, in particular in a home Derby when the scores are level, he would have got the fans going too. He would have been more direct than Wotherspoon, who tried hard, but wasn't causing their young full back too many problems. Bringing Sproule on fresh might have got the lad on the back foot. Worth a try, I thought. Ivan will always give 100%, but his best days are behind him, although I think he can still have a part to play this season.
