Carlos Tevez made his debut at his new club yesterday, the club in question being Lytham not Manchester City and his position not of a striker but caddie to Andres Romero. It’s not hard to figure out what golf’s traditionalists made of a celebrity footballer being parachuted into a gig in the final round of the Open championship, but it’s unlikely we’ll see a repeat. Romero had a calamitous round of 82 for a total score of 18-over par. He finished last, the wonder being that Tevez didn’t abandon him in one of the hissy fits he has become renowned for.
