Reading Christopher Brookmyre's new book and a mention goes to a character called Grumpy Gibby. Bit of plagiarism there maybe? :greengrin

I've not read his new one (any good?) but have read several others and enjoyed all of them. I recently finished 'a tale etched in blood and hard black pencil', which was excellent but 'attack of the unsinkable rubber ducks' and 'boiling a frog' are my personal favourites. The later was turned in to a play a few years back which was also worth seeing.

It is alright. Not an author you have to think about whilst reading in my opinion. Just enjoy them for what they are. I did laugh when he mentioned Grumpy Gibby though. Think Brookmyre is a St Mirren fan?

Yeah, think he is a St Mirren fan. Scottish football usually gets a few name checks. Agree his books are fairly easy reading although also well written and pretty clever. They're about as intelligent as my brain can cope with after a long day at work.

And therein lies the beauty of them Mikey. A 12 hour shift, pick up a book, I don't want to have to think. :greengrin

Read all his stuff so far and enjoyed most of it. Sometimes his stuff comes over as a draft for a film script, but as a few have mentioned he's easy reading.

That is a cracking pic in your signature. Who is the victim and who nailed him?

That would be a bearded John Greig and the Sloop John B respectively :greengrin

Aye Brookmyre states that he lives with his wife kids and St Mirren season ticket in the blurb in his books....never read a bad book by this guy.
