Garry O’Connor is set to complete his move back to Russia after flying out to seal a deal with his agent.

The former Hibernian striker, who starred for Lokomotiv Moskow in 2006 and 2007, is ready to sign for Siberian top league side Tom Tomsk.

He shouldn't lose his way there then!

Would be very surprised if true as he still has community service to do.... Which I hasten to add will have to be done weekly at a time arranged by them not him.... Unless he will fly back every week to do it??

Doesn't the Russian season work differently to ours?

Maybe he's joining them from October or something.

I know his behaviour has hardly been exemplary but surely sending him to a Siberian Gulag is a bit much.

Tomsk isn't like most Russian cities. It's very beautiful and historic. The oldest city in Siberia, its also a seat of learning, Russias answer to Oxford or Cambridge.
So an obvious destenation for a culture vultre like our big Garry!

They've just played something like 18 months to fall into line with the rest of Europe. Cold winter months watching football in Russia. Magic eh :snowman.

Translated to the best I could...

Today the player, "Tom" has become an experienced 29-year-old Scottish striker Garry O'Connor. The contract with the striker is designed for 2 years. O'Connor will be performing at number nine. Immediately after signing Harry answered the questions of "Our Big Football" (http://fctomtomsk.ru/news/tags/nbf-materialy) , which will be released tomorrow on the airbroadcasting "TV-2" (http://www.tv2.tomsk.ru/) at 19:30 (tmsk).

Harry was the first club to the Scottish "Haybernian" where he spent six years. However 2000th year, he played on loan at the club, "Peterhead", leaving the field in four games and scoring 1 goal. The debut of "Haybernian" came in a match with "Dundee United" in April 2001. In general, in all competitions for the "Haybernian" O'Connor scored 58 goals.
In 2006 Gary moved to the capital "Locomotive". His first goal for the "railroad" scored in the cup game with "Spartacus." In the seasons 2006, 2007, the Scot has scored seven goals, including a victory in the final of the Cup of Russia 2006/07. In the summer of 2007 he moved forward in the "Birmingham City". In his first match against the "Sunderland" in August 2007, O'Connor was marked by the capture of the gate. Still, the attacker did not get enough match practice. His next goal he scored only in January, "Arsenal". In the season 2007/2008 was marked by O'Connor goals 4 times, but it is not possible to escape from relegation birmingemtsam. most of the season 2009/10 O'Connor missed due to injury. In 5 games coming out at the base and five - the replacement scored one goal.
In 2010 he joined the club, "Barnsley". After 24 games, scored four marked balls. In April 2011 O'Connor returned to the Scottish club "Haybernian," which began his professional career. In season 2011/12 scored 12 goals in 33 games.
Garry O'Connor had 16 caps for Scotland, scoring 4 goals.
In July 2012 became a player, "Tom."

The fans seem fairly happy and think he's prob one of if not the most high profile player they have had.

He was caught with drugs in his system during his Birmingham years, that was hushed up. He was caught running away from the police, with drugs in his pocket just before he signed for us.

I'd put my last penny those were not the only 2 times he took the drugs, he's had enough 2nd chances for me.

I'm pretty glad he's signed for them, it means we wont have him at easter road next season.

Regardless of how he ended up after the final, I wish the big man all the best over there. Always feel that there isn't enough Scottish players playing abroad though.

I give it 6 months absolute tops, but he'll earn a pretty packet in that time and can hopefully get his heid sorted so his talent doesn't go to waste.
