Has anyone used or can recommend any in the Edinburgh area?

Getting bored crapless in this place just now so I thought of taking a jaunt down the Amazon or bugger off to Nepal for a month for a laugh. There are plenty places online but would rather speak to them face to face before doing this as it's no exactly cheap.

I was trekking round Nepal/Sikkim (north-east India) border a few years ago and I would definitely recommend it. It's less touristy than north-west India although that's meant to be amazing as well.

With regards to guides, I'd always book when you get there because it'll be cheaper but if you want to planed something then guides recommended by lonely planet are a safe bet.

I remember when we arrived at a viewing point at the highest point of our trek, I turned around and there was a guy in a Celtic top. Everywhere you go!

Jordan, in particular Wadi Rum and Petra also has good treks. If you're interested I can recommend a tour company for that?

Thanks Mikey, going to give Nepal a body swerve just now as I've got my heart set on Patagonia but I'll defo have a look at Lonely Planet.

Ideally I would just rather pay for everything up front in the UK, I know it's a lot more expensive but at least I know it's done and dusted!

Have used both these comapnies before W67, pricey but well organised. Not sure if they are exactly what you would be after but maybe worth a try.
