I know that the last time I tried to provide a Hibs-related update on African football, I inadvertently incurred allegations of having a hidden agenda or even worse being a yam.

So once bitten, twice shy, here I go again...

According to "Sandals for Goalposts" twitter feed, Morocco beat Iraq 2-0 tonight in the semi-final of the Arab Nations Cup in Saudi Arabia. (although I've seen the score also given as 2-1 on Wikipedia)

Their squad is entirely made up of domestic league players. Benji who now plays for Wydad in Fes came on as a second half substitute when the score was already 2-0

Morocco will play Libya in the final

My only reason for posting this is to share the news with other Hibbies who might also be interested in Benji's career since leaving us.

Hit the post with a header for a hat-trick in a cup final.

Always liked Benji.

Naw, I'm sure you have other motives for posting this stuff!!!!

Just give me a few hours :spider: and I'll manage to work out just what your angle is!

(In the meantime, thanks for the update on Benji. :aok:)

Technically gifted. Shame he needed more than that.

If he had the right attitude he could have been a regular in our team and a firm fans favourite.

There was no doubt he was talented but he was lazy and at times very greedy with the ball.

I'll remember him for the CF and not much else.

Good luck to him.

And his derby winner when he ran the length of the park to celebrate in front of the yams. Class!!!

One of another few great talents we've had at the club with a seemingly poor attitude.

It's a shame, I had such high hopes for wee Benji.

Loved the wee man, his goal against the yams, St Johstone at the asbestos arena and of course the 2 goals against Killie in the LCF stand outs for me

and i thought it was just benji himself that had got to the final  but anyway, i hope benji(and the rest of his team) wins it :)

Morocco beat Libya 3-1 on penalties following a 1-1 draw (aet) to lift the Cup for the first time.

News seems patchy across the net, but from what I can gather, Benji started, but didn't take a penalty
