I was just googling about for a bit of info about the season I first went to see Hibs (81/82) and stumbled across some attendances for that season. Shockingly small, apparently we only had 3118 for my first ever game (second last game of the season v Partick Thistle). I don't remember it being that quiet! Even through the 70s the attendances don't look that special.

So, no doubt it's been asked before, but does anyone know the lowest ever league attendance we've ever had at ER?

Pretty sure there was less than that. Possibly a 1k plus crowd in a midweek game v Clydebank in the entertaining Auld era.

Smallest crowd I remember at ER was a Christmas Eve game in 1976 v Ayr United. We won 1-0 thanks to a Fillippi own goal

I seem to recall a crowd of under 3,500 at home to St Johnstone circa 1993.

That's the one I was thinking of JGL but I'm pretty sure it was in the SKOL cup winning season, right after we'd won it.

I have just looked it up.

It was in the 1992-3 season. The crowd was 3526.

Think there was an equally low, if not lower crowd v. Airdrie the season we won the Skol Cup. Midweek when Willie Miller ended up in goals.

I read in one club history, that back in the 50's, at the height of the Famous Five, when their average crowds were 40,000, Hibs played a league game against Stirling Albion at ER in front of just over 1,000 fans. Apparently there was a freak storm and people left their homes and started turning back. Others saw them heading away from Easter Road and assumed the game was cancelled - it wasn't. The storm miraculously died down just before kick off, and the bemused players took the field to an empty stadium. The second lowest gate that year was just over 20,000, so it must have been some storm. Any older Hibs fans remember this?

Don't remember the storm but had a feeling it was a midweek afternoon match for some reason.

I'm sure the crowd was about 1,900 for the last game of the 79-80 season at home to Partick. We were already relegated.

I was there too. Memories of it being nearer 1100, and we lost 1-0. Donald Park or Alex O'Hara I think. Why do we remember this stuff?

Correct about the attendance - officially 1,191...forgot about this excellent website http://www.fitbastats.com/hibs/game.php?gameid=3640

I remember it more clearly than most of last season's games! Maybe because it was the first game I'd been to where only the main stand and enclosure were open. Think it was a Craig Paterson o.g.

3,383. Cromb in the paper a couple of days later saying: 'Hibs can't survive on crowds like that'.

Horrible night, horrible game. Can't remember the score (think it was a draw?)
